This document specifies the mounting dimensions required for interchangeability of accessories for 16 MPa (160 bar) compact cylinders conforming to ISO 6020‑2. The accessories have been designed specifically for use with cylinders manufactured in accordance with ISO 6020‑2, but this does not limit their application[1]. This document covers the following accessories, identified in accordance with ISO 6099: — AP6 — rod eye spherical, female thread (see Figure 1 and Table 1); — AB5 — clevis bracket, spherical eye, in angle (see Figure 2 and Table 2); — AA6-L — pivot pin, spherical bearing, locking plate (see Figure 3 and Table 3); — AL6 — locking plate for pivot pin (see Figure 4 and Table 4); — AP2 — rod clevis, female thread (see Figure 5 and Table 5); — AP4 — rod eye plain, female thread (see Figure 6 and Table 6); — AB2 — eye bracket (see Figure 7 and Table 7); — AB4 — clevis bracket, straight (see Figure 8 and Table 8); — AA4-S — pivot pin, plain (split pins) (see Figure 9 and Table 9); — AA4-R — pivot pin, plain (rings) (see Figure 10 and Table 10); — AT4 — trunnion bracket (see Figure 11 and Table 11). These accessories are used on hydraulic cylinders for mechanically transmitting the cylinder force. The design of these accessories is based on the maximum forces resulting from the specified internal diameters of the cylinders and pressures according to ISO 3320 and ISO 2944. This document only applies to the dimensional criteria of products manufactured in conformity with this document; it does not apply to their functional characteristics. This document is to be used together with the other generic parts of EN 13001 series of standards, see Annex E, as well as pertinent crane type product EN standards, and as such they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to, by design and theoretical verification, prevent mechanical hazards of hydraulic cylinders that are part of the load carrying structures of cranes. Hydraulic piping, hoses and connectors used with the cylinders are not within the scope of this document, as well as cylinders made from other material than carbon steel.
NOTE 1 Specific requirements for particular crane types are given in the appropriate European product standards, see Annex E.
The significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during intended use are identified in Annex F. Clauses 4 to 7 of this document provide requirements and methods to reduce or eliminate these risks:
a) exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue);
b) elastic instability (column buckling).
NOTE 2 EN 13001-3-6 deals only with the limit state method in accordance with EN 13001-1.

This document specifies a method for the evaluation of the buckling load which: a) takes into account a geometric model of the hydraulic cylinder, meaning it does not treat the hydraulic cylinder as an equivalent column, b) can be used for all types of cylinder mounting and rod end connection specified in Table 2, c) includes a factor of safety, k, to be set by the person performing the calculations and reported with the results of the calculations, d) takes into account possible off-axis loading, e) takes into account the weight of the hydraulic cylinder, meaning it does not neglect all transverse loads applied on the hydraulic cylinder, f) can be implemented as a simple computer program, and g) considers the cylinder fully extended. The method specified is based on the elastic buckling theory and is applicable to single and double acting cylinders that conform to ISO 6020 (all parts), ISO 6022 and ISO 10762. If necessary, finite element analyses can be used to verify as well as to determine the buckling load. The method is not developed for thin-walled cylinders, double-rods or plunger cylinders. The method is not developed for internal (rod) buckling. The friction of spherical bearings is not taken into account. NOTE This method is based mainly on original work by Fred Hoblit[2]. This method has been established in reference to the standard NFPA/T3.6.37[1].

ISO 5597:2018 establishes the preferred range of nominal dimensions and associated tolerances for a series of hydraulic cylinder rod and piston seal housings for reciprocating applications in the following range of dimensions: - for cylinders of 16 mm to 500 mm; - for rods of 6 mm to 450 mm. An additional range of seal housings is detailed in this document to meet the reduced envelope requirements of the 160 bar (16 MPa)[1] compact series of ISO 6020‑2; these smaller section seals require stricter piston rod and cylinder bore tolerances. The range of dimensions is as follows: - cylinders of 25 mm to 200 mm; - rods of 12 mm to 140 mm. ISO 5597:2018 does not give details of seal design, since the manner of construction of seals varies with each manufacturer. The design and material of the seal and any incorporated anti-extrusion components are determined by conditions such as temperature and pressure. This European Standard is to be used together with EN 13001-1, EN 13001-2 and EN 13001-3-1 as well as pertinent crane type product EN standards, and as such they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to, by design and theoretical verification, prevent mechanical hazards of hydraulic cylinders that are part of the load carrying structures of cranes. Hydraulic piping, hoses and connectors used with the cylinders, as well as cylinders made from other material than carbon steel, are not within the scope of this standard.
The following are significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. Clauses 4 to 7 of this standard are necessary to reduce or eliminate risks associated with the following hazards:
a) exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue);
b) elastic instability (column buckling).
NOTE EN 13001-3-6 deals only with the limit state method in accordance with EN 13001-1.

ISO/TR 16806:2003 describes how to calculate the loading limits for a pneumatic slide based upon external forces applied in the three principle planes of a tool plate, and applied at any point; external torque applied in the three principle planes of a tool plate; and bearing limits determined by the slide manufacturer in conjunction with the bearing supplier. It also describes how to calculate tool plate deflections due to the loads.
ISO/TR 16806:2003 describes how to present the rating information in technical documentation for application by a user.

This part specifies the dimensions and associated tolerances for a series of housings to accomodate seals used in reciprocating applications. Does not stipulate details of seal design. This part applies only to the dimensional characteristics of products. Does not apply to their functional characteristics. Figure 1 contains an example of housing. Table 2 covers dimensions and tolerances of housings for rod diameters from 6 to 360 mm.
