IEC 62807-3:2023 is a sectional specification for outdoor hybrid communication cables intended to be used externally in various applications. It specifies terms, definitions, symbols and abbreviated terms, the design and construction, rated values and characteristics, performance requirements and test methods, packaging and quality assurance.
Hybrid cables are designed for networks and customer premises cabling that transmit data, telecommunication, instrumentation, control and signalling services over optical fibres and/or broadband data over coaxial element, wire/pair/quad element and can have the option of supplying electrical current to a remote equipment.
In the IEC 62807 series, the current carrying elements are used only to supply power to the equipment within the communication network. They are not used for electricity distribution or transmission, nor for power supply to domestic appliances. The specific uses are defined in the relevant specification.
The relationship between each of the MICE classifications in ISO/IEC 11801-1, performance requirements and test methods of hybrid cables being proposed in a specific application are fully considered and aligned.

IEC 62680-1-8:2019 is to describe in detail all the Terminal Types that are supported by the Audio Device Class. This document is considered an integral part of the Audio Device Class Specification, although subsequent revisions of this document are independent of the revision evolution of the main Audio Device Class Specification. This is to easily accommodate the addition of new Terminal Types without impeding the core Audio Device Class Specification. The Audio Device Class Definition applies to all devices or functions embedded in composite devices. All audio signals inside an audio function start at an Input Terminal, pass through some Units, and leave the function through an Output Terminal. Units can manipulate the signal in various ways. Terminals represent the connections of the function to the outside world. As part of the Terminal descriptor, the wTerminalType field specifies the vendor’s suggested use of the Terminal. For example, a pair of speakers is a more suitable target for music output than a telephone line. This feature allows a vendor to ensure that applications use the device in a consistent and meaningful way.

IEC 60189-1:2018 is now available as IEC 60189-1:2018 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.
IEC 60189-1:2018 specifies mechanical, electrical and climatic test methods for low-frequency cables and wires designed for use in telecommunication inside plants and equipment and in electronic devices employing similar techniques. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2007. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) Test methods for dielectric strength and insulation resistance that were referenced in the previous edition have been withdrawn. They have been replaced with references to similar test methods described in current standards.
b) References to the IEC 60811 series have been updated as the numbering of this series has completely been changed.

IEC 62807-1:2017 is applicable to hybrid cables intended to contain any combination of optical fibres, twisted pair/quad, coaxial and current-carrying electrical conductor elements as required under a common outer sheath.
This hybrid cable design is convenient for networks and customer premises wiring that transmit data, telecommunication and signalling services over optical fibre, metallic twisted pairs, and/or broadband data over coaxial units, and retains the option of supplying electrical current to remote equipment.
The cable element (e.g. coaxial, balanced and optical fibre) performance requirements and supported applications are as specified in the following standards series: IEC 61196, IEC 61156, and IEC 60794 respectively.
The various combinations of strength members, sheath materials, fibre arrangements, twisted pair/quad structure, cable shielding, and current carrying conductors will be specified in the following specifications:
- IEC 62807-2;
- IEC 62807-3.
In IEC 62807 (all parts), the current carrying conductors are not intended to be used as power mains supply. The specific use and safety regulation requirements are defined in the detailed and sectional cable specification.

This draft European Standard details the test methods to determine the attenuation of converted differential-mode signals into common-mode signals, and vice versa, due to balance characteristics of cables used in analogue and digital communication systems by using the transmission measurement method. The unbalance attenuation is measured in, respectively converted to, standard operational conditions. If not otherwise specified, e.g. by product specifications, the standard operational conditions are a differential-mode which is matched with its nominal characteristic impedance (e.g. 100 Ω) and a common-mode which is loaded with 50 Ω. The difference between the (image) unbalance attenuation (matched conditions in the differential and common-mode) to the Betriebs- (operational) unbalance attenuation (matched conditions in differential-mode and 50 Ω reference load in the common-mode) is small provided the common-mode impedance Zcom is in the range of 25 Ω to 75 Ω.
For cables having a nominal impedance of 100 Ω, the value of the common-mode impedance Zcom is about 75 Ω for up to 25 pair- count unscreened pair cables, 50 Ω for common screened pair cables and more than 25 pair- count unscreened pair cables, and 25 Ω for individually screened pair cables. The impedance of the common-mode circuit Zcom can be measured more precisely either with a time domain reflectometer (TDR) or a network analyser. The two conductors of the pair are connected together at both ends and the impedance is measured between these conductors and the return path.
This draft European Standard is bound to be read in conjunction with prEN 50289-1-1, which contains essential provisions for its application.
