Standard Guide for Use of High Solids Content, Cold Liquid-Applied Elastomeric Waterproofing Membrane With Separate Wearing Course

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
Designers and installers of waterproofing systems may consult this guide for a discussion of important elements of the use of cold liquid-applied waterproofing membranes and associated elements of construction. This guide is not intended to serve as a specification for waterproofing installation.
Long-term performance of waterproofing with a separate wearing course is important because of the substantial difficulty in determining the location of leakage and in removing overlying materials to make repairs.
Refer to Guide C 1471 for application on below grade walls and vertical surfaces.
SCOPE
1.1 This guide describes the use of a high solids content, cold liquid-applied elastomeric waterproofing membrane that meets the criteria in Specification C 836, in a waterproofing system subject to hydrostatic pressure for building decks over occupied space where the membrane is covered with a separate protective wearing course.
1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
