Standard Specification for Phosphor Bronze Rod, Bar, and Shapes

ABSTRACT
This specification establishes the requirements for rods, bars, and shapes of phosphor bronze with Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C51000, C52100, C52400, C53400, and C54400. The material for manufacture shall be a cast rod, bar, or billet of such purity and soundness as to be suitable for processing by hot working, cold working, and annealing to produce a uniform wrought structure in the finished product. Tempers available under this specification are O60 (soft anneal temper), H04 (hard temper), and H08 (spring temper). Products shall be tested and shall adhere to dimensional (mass, diameter, shape, length, straightness, and edge contour), mechanical (tensile strength, and elongation), and chemical composition requirements.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for phosphor bronze rod, bar, and shapes.
1.2 Units—Values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.
