• Abstract:

  This European Standard specifies a floating roller method for the determination of the peel resistance of adhesive bonds between one rigid adherend and one flexible adherend when tested under specified conditions of preparation and testing.; NOTE The use the floating roller produces more constant numerical data than other peel methods, but it should not be expected that the flexible adherend will conform to the surface of the roller.

Overview

EN 1464:2010 (CEN) specifies the floating roller method for determining the peel resistance of adhesive bonds between one rigid adherend and one flexible adherend. The standard defines test preparation, apparatus, specimen geometry, conditioning, test procedures (dry and wet), data reduction and reporting requirements. Results are expressed as average peel resistance in newtons per millimetre (N/mm).

  • Determine average peel resistance (N/mm) from autographic curve using planimeter, gravimetric chart-area method, best-fit straight line, or computer-assisted methods.
  • Record average, maximum and minimum forces and classify failure mode per EN ISO 10365.
• Reporting: Detailed test report requirements including adhesive and adherend identification, bond process, specimen details, conditioning, crosshead rate, calculation method and results.
