This Part of EN ISO 15874 specifies the characteristics of fittings for polypropylene (PP) piping systems intended to be used for hot and cold water installations within buildings for the conveyance of water, whether or not intended for human consumption (domestic systems) and for heating systems under design pressures and temperatures according to the class of application (see Table 1 of EN ISO 15874-1:2003).
This standard covers a range of service conditions (application classes) and design pressure classes. For values of TD, Tmax and Tmal in excess of those in Table 1of Part 1, this standard does not apply.
NOTE It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.
It also specifies the parameters for the test methods referred to in this standard.
In conjunction with the other parts of EN ISO 15874 (see Foreword) it is applicable to fittings made from PP and to fittings made from other materials which are intended to be fitted to pipes conforming to EN ISO 15874-2 for hot and cold water installations and whereby the joints conform to the requirements of EN ISO 15874-5.
It is also applicable to fittings made from alternative materials which when fitted to pipes conforming to Part 2, conform to the requirements of Part 5 of EN ISO 15874.
This standard is applicable to fittings of the following types:
- socket fusion fittings
- electrofusion fittings
- mechanical fittings
- fittings with incorporated inserts

Dieser Teil der ISO 15874 legt Anforderungen an Formstücke für Rohrleitungssysteme aus Polypropylen (PP) fest, die in der Warm- und Kaltwasserinstallation innerhalb von Gebäuden für den Transport von Trink- oder Brauchwasser (Hausinstallation) sowie für Heizungsanlagen unter Berücksichtigung des betreffenden zulässigen Betriebsdruckes und der für die jeweilige Anwendungsklasse geltenden Temperaturen (siehe ISO 15874-1, Tabelle 1) eingesetzt werden.
Diese Norm enthält Festlegungen zu Anwendungsklassen, die sich auf Betriebsbedingungen beziehen, sowie Festlegungen über zulässige Betriebsdrücke. Diese Norm gilt nicht, wenn für TD, Tmax und Tmal höhere als die in Tabelle 1 von Teil 1 dieser Norm aufgeführten Werte zugrunde gelegt werden.
ANMERKUNG Der Anwender bzw. Auftraggeber ist unter Berücksichtigung der eigenen Anforderungen sowie der geltenden nationalen Festlegungen und Verlegepraktiken für die entsprechende Auswahl dieser Kriterien verantwortlich.
Sie legt auch die Prüfparameter für die Prüfverfahren fest, auf die in dieser Norm verwiesen wird.
Zusammen mit den übrigen Teilen der ISO 15874 (siehe Vorwort) gilt dieser Teil für Formstücke aus PP, anderen Kunststoffen oder metallenen Werkstoffen, die für die Verwendung mit Rohren nach ISO 15874 2 in der Warm- und Kaltwasserinstallation vorgesehen sind und deren Verbindungen den Anforderungen der ISO 15874-5 entsprechen.
Diese Norm ist auch auf Formstücke aus alternativen Werkstoffen anwendbar, die in Verbindung mit Rohren nach Teil 2 die Anforderungen nach ISO 15874-5 erfüllen.
Diese Norm gilt für die folgenden Arten von Formstücken:

- Formstücke für Heizwendelschweißung
- mechanische Rohrverbinder

L'ISO 15874-3:2013 spécifie les caractéristiques des raccords pour les systèmes de canalisations en polypropylène (PP) destinés aux installations d'eau chaude et froide à l'intérieur des bâtiments pour le transport de l'eau, que celle-ci soit destinée ou non à la consommation humaine (systèmes domestiques), ainsi qu'aux installations de chauffage à des pressions et des températures de service correspondant à la classe d'application.
L'ISO 15874-3:2013 couvre une gamme de conditions de service (classes d'application) et de classes de pression de service.
Elle spécifie aussi les paramètres d'essai pour les méthodes.
Conjointement avec les autres parties de l'ISO 15874, l'ISO 15874-3:2013 s'applique aux raccords en polypropylène (PP) et aux raccords fabriqués dans d'autres matières qui sont destinés à être assemblés à des tubes conformes à l'ISO 15874‑2 pour les installations d'eau chaude et froide et où les assemblages sont conformes aux exigences de l'ISO 15874‑5.

Ta del standarda ISO 15874 določa značilnosti fitingov za cevne sisteme iz polipropilena (PP), ki se uporabljajo za napeljave z vročo in hladno vodo za prenos pitne in nepitne vode v stavbah (gospodinjski sistemi), ter za sisteme ogrevanja glede na predvidene tlake in temperature v skladu z razredom uporabe (glej standard ISO 15874-1:2013, preglednica 1). Zajema različne pogoje uporabe (razrede uporabe) in razrede predvidenih tlakov. Ne uporablja se za vrednosti TD, Tmaks in Tmal, ki presegajo vrednosti iz preglednice 1 standarda ISO 15874-1:2013. This document (EN ISO 15874-1:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 155 “Plastics
piping systems and ducting systems” the secretariat of which is held by NEN, in collaboration with Technical
Committee ISO/TC 138 “Plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of fluids”.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2013, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by August 2013.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International
Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
ISO 15874-3 was prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 155, Plastics piping systems and ducting systems,
in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 138, Plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of
fluids, and Subcommittee SC 2, Plastics pipes and fittings for water supplies, in accordance with the Agreement
on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 15874-3:2003 and ISO 15874-3:2003/Amd
1:2007), which has been technically revised.
The following material has been revised:
— in 4.1.1, Table 1, the material PP-RCT has been included;
— in 6.2.1, Figure 1 has been simplified, and in Tables 3 and 4, the socket length and socket dimensions
of socket fusion fittings have been adjusted;
— in 6.2.2, Table 5, the socket dimensions for electrofusion fittings have been extended to 160 mm; and
— in 7.4, Tables 6, 7 and 8, values have been adjusted.

Introduction
This part of ISO 15874 specifies the requirements for a piping system and its components when made from
polypropylene (PP). The piping system is intended to be used for hot and cold water installations.
Regarding potential undesirable effects on the quality of water intended for human consumption, caused by
the product covered by ISO 15874
— no information is provided as to whether the product can be used without restriction, and
— existing national regulations concerning the use and/or the characteristics of this product remain in force.
Requirements and test methods for materials and components, other than fittings, are specified in ISO 15874-1
and ISO 15874-2. Characteristics for fitness for purpose (mainly for joints) are covered in ISO 15874-5.
ISO/TS 15874-7 gives guidance for the assessment of conformity.
This part of ISO 15874 specifies the characteristics of the fittings.
