This European Standard specifies the laboratory method for measuring the airborne sound insulation of noise barriers. It covers the assessment of the intrinsic airborne sound insulation performance of noise barriers and related devices acting on airborne sound propagation designed for railways which can reasonably be assembled inside the testing facility described in EN ISO 10140 series.
All noise reducing devices different from noise barriers and related devices acting on airborne sound propagation, e.g. devices for attenuation of ground borne vibration and on board devices are out of the scope of this European Standard.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Labormethode zur Messung der Luftschalldämmung von Lärmschutz¬wänden fest. Sie beinhaltet die Bewertung der produktspezifischen Merkmale der Luftschalldämmung von Lärmschutzwänden und verwandten Vorrichtungen gegen Schallübertragung, die für Eisenbahnen konzipiert sind und in den Prüfvorrichtungen nach EN ISO 10140 (alle Teile) untersucht werden können.
Alle Lärmminderungsvorrichtungen, die nicht zu Lärmschutzwänden und verwandten Vorrichtungen gegen Schallübertragung gehören, z. B. Vorrichtungen zur Verminderung von Erdbodenerschütterungen oder mittransportierte Vorrichtungen, gehören nicht zum Anwendungsbereich dieser Europäischen Norm.

La présente Norme européenne définit la méthode de mesure en salle réverbérante de l’isolation au bruit aérien des écrans antibruit. Elle traite de l’évaluation des performances intrinsèques d’isolation au bruit aérien des dispositifs de réduction du bruit, conçus pour des voies ferrées et qui peuvent raisonnablement être assemblés à l’intérieur du local d’essai décrit dans la série des EN ISO 10140.
Tous les autres dispositifs de réduction du bruit, comme par exemple les dispositifs d’atténuation des vibrations transmises par le sol et les dispositifs embarqués, ne relèvent pas du domaine d’application de la présente Norme européenne.
