CEN/TC 151.
This draft amendment A1, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 13035-11:2006. If this draft becomes an amendment, CEN
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this amendment
into the relevant national standard without any alteration.

Foreword
This document (EN 13035-11:2006/FprA1:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151
“Construction equipment and building material machines – Safety”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s).
For relationship with EU Directive(s), see informative Annexes ZA and ZB, which are integral parts of this
document.

“Where fixed guards are used, their fixing systems shall remain attached to the guards or to the machinery
when the guards are removed.”
7 Modification to 5.5.1, General
Replace the existing text in 5.5.1 with the following:
“All electrical equipment shall conform to the requirements of EN 60204-1 in particular with regard to the pro-
tection against electrical shock (see EN 60204-1:2006, Clause 6).
At locations with spraying of water, the use of maximum 24 V in accordance with EN 60204-1:2006, 6.4, shall
be considered for the control circuits.”
8 Modification to 5.6, Emergency stop

Replace the 1 paragraph with the following:
“Drilling machines shall be equipped at the operator's start/stop station with easily and quickly accessible ac-
tuators of emergency-stop equipment in accordance with EN ISO 13850. The stop function shall be in accor-
dance with EN 60204-1:2006, 9.2.2, category 0 or 1. The related part of the control system shall present a
performance level of at least c in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1:2008.”
9 Modification to 5.7, General safeguarding principles
Replace the existing text in 5.7.4.2 with the following:
5.7.4.2 "The part of the control system related to the safety measures of 5.7.4.1 shall present a perform-
ance level of at least b in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1:2008.”
Replace 5.7.5 to 5.7.6 with the following:
5.7.5 "Semi-automatic and automatic machines
A movable interlocking guard (see EN 953:1997, 3.5) shall be provided.
Guards shall be provided to avoid contact with the top of the rotating drill and crushing by the clamps, e.g. a
movable interlocking guard according to EN 953:1997, 3.5, (see Annex A (informative)). The interlocking de-
vice (e.g. using an electromechanical position detector with positive opening of the contacts in accordance
with EN 1088:1995, 6.2, or a proximity sensor in accordance with EN 1088:1995, 6.3 and Annex K) and the
related part of the control system shall present a performance level of at least c in accordance with
EN ISO 13849-1:2008.
5.7.6 Fully automatic machines
Fixed distance guards in accordance with EN 953:1997, 3.2.2, shall prevent access to the moving parts.
Safety distances shall be in accordance with EN ISO 13857:2008, Tables 1 and 4.
Where required means of access to the safeguarded zone shall be provided. The access door or movable
guard shall be interlocking. The interlocking device (e.g. using an electromechanical position detector with
positive opening of the contacts in accordance with EN 1088:1995, 6.2) and the related part of the control sys-
tem shall present a performance level of at least c in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1:2008.
