This document specifies a gas chromatography and a mass spectrometry method of detecting the presence of argon in metal powder produced components, consolidated by hot isostatic pressing.
This document specifies the calibration and functionality test for the equipment covered. It also specifies methods for sampling, sample preparation and sample test procedure of PM HIP components to detect argon presence.
Components produced by additive manufacturing are not covered in this document.

In diesem Dokument wird ein gaschromatographisches und massenspektrometrisches Verfahren zum Nachweis
von Argon in aus Metallpulver hergestellten Bauteilen, die durch heißisostatisches Pressen verfestigt wurden,
festgelegt.
In diesem Dokument werden die Kalibrierung und die Funktionsprüfung für die behandelte Ausrüstung festgelegt.
Außerdem werden Verfahren für die Probenahme, die Probenvorbereitung und die Probenprüfung von
PM-HIP-Bauteilen zum Nachweis von Argon festgelegt.
Durch additive Fertigung hergestellte Bauteile werden in diesem Dokument nicht behandelt.
WICHTIG — Es liegt in der Verantwortung des Erwerbers der PM-HIP-Dienstleistung, in der Bestellung
festzulegen, ob eine Argon-Erkennungsprüfung erforderlich ist. Ist dies der Fall, muss der vereinbarte
Grenzwert für Argon angegeben werden.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode de chromatographie en phase gazeuse et une méthode de spectrométrie de masse pour détecter la présence d’argon dans les constituants produits à partir de poudres de métal, consolidés par compression isostatique à chaud.
Le présent document spécifie l’étalonnage et l’essai de fonctionnalité applicables aux équipements couverts. Il spécifie également les méthodes d’échantillonnage, la préparation des échantillons et la procédure d’essai des constituants PM HIP pour détecter la présence d’argon.
Les constituants produits par fabrication additive ne sont pas couverts par le présent document.

Ta dokument določa kalibracijo in preskus funkcionalnosti za obravnavano opremo. Določa tudi metode za vzorčenje, pripravo vzorcev in postopek preskušanja vzorcev komponent PM HIP za zaznavanje prisotnosti argona.

The text of ISO 5842:2022 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 119 "Powder metallurgy”
of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as
EN ISO 5842:2023 by CCMC.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 2023, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 2023.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
Any feedback and questions on this document should be directed to the users’ national standards body.
