ISO 1833-24:2010 specifies a method using phenol and tetrachloroethane to determine the percentage of polyester after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of binary mixtures of certain polyester fibres with acrylic, polypropylene or aramid fibres.
This method is not applicable to coated fabrics.

In diesem Teil der ISO 1833 wird ein Verfahren mit Phenol und Tetrachlorethan zur Bestimmung des prozentualen Anteils an Polyester, nach dem Abtrennen der nichtfaserigen Begleitstoffe, in Textilien aus binären Mischungen bestimmter Polyesterfasern mit Acryl-, Polypropylen- oder Aramidfasern festgelegt. Dieses Verfahren gilt nicht für beschichtete Flächengebilde.

L'ISO 1833-24:2010 spécifie une méthode utilisant du phénol et du tétrachloroéthane pour la détermination du pourcentage de polyester, après extraction des matières non fibreuses, dans les textiles constitués de mélanges binaires de fibres polyester avec fibres acryliques, polypropylène ou aramide.
La méthode ne s'applique pas aux tissus enduits.

EN ISO 1833-24:2011 (identical to ISO 1833-24:2010) is a standardized chemical test method for quantitative fibre analysis of textiles. It specifies a solvent extraction procedure using a phenol and tetrachloroethane reagent to determine the percentage of polyester in binary mixtures of polyester with acrylic, polypropylene or aramid fibres, after removal of non‑fibrous matter. The method is published by CEN/ISO and is intended for laboratory determination of fibre composition (not applicable to coated fabrics).

• Apparatus: Conical flask, heating bath, weighed filter crucible and suction/filtering equipment.
