This European Standard defines the requirements and test methods for factory applied epoxy coatings (fusion bonded powder or liquid two-pack) used for the corrosion protection of ductile iron fittings and accessories conforming to EN 545, EN 598, EN 969, EN 12842, EN 14525, for:
- conveying water (e.g. potable water) at operating temperature up to 50 °C excluding frost; or
- conveying waste water at operating temperature up to 45 °C excluding frost; or
- conveying gas at operating temperature up to 50 °C;
- suitable for external environments, i.e. soils, waters and atmospheres of all common corrosion loads, characterized in EN 545:2010, D.2.3.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren fest für werksmäßig aufgebrachte Epoxidharzbeschichtungen (Aufschmelzen von pulverförmigem Epoxidharz oder flüssigem Epoxidharz im Zwei-Komponentenverfahren) für den Korrosionsschutz von Formstücken und Zubehörteilen aus duktilem Gusseisen nach EN 545, EN 598, EN 969, EN 12842, EN 14525
- zum Transport von Wasser (z. B. Trinkwasser) bei Betriebstemperaturen bis 50 °C, jedoch außerhalb des Frostbereiches; oder
- zum Transport von Abwasser bei Betriebstemperaturen bis 45 °C, jedoch außerhalb des Frostbereiches; oder
- zum Transport von Gas bei Betriebstemperaturen bis 50 °C;
- geeignet für äußere Umgebungsbedingungen, d. h. Böden, Wasser und Atmosphären mit allen üblichen Korrosionsbelastungen nach EN 545:2010, D.2.3.

La présente Norme européenne établit les prescriptions et les méthodes d’essai relatives aux revêtements époxy appliqués en usine (poudre liée par fusion, liquide à deux composants), utilisés pour la protection contre la corrosion des raccords et accessoires en fonte ductile conformes aux normes EN 545, EN 598, EN 969, EN 12842 et EN 14525 destinés à transporter :
- de l’eau (eau potable par exemple) à une température de fonctionnement allant jusqu’à 50 °C hors gel ; ou
- des eaux usées à une température de fonctionnement allant jusqu’à 45 °C hors gel ; ou
- du gaz à une température de fonctionnement allant jusqu’à 50 °C ;
- et convenant aux environnements extérieurs définis en D.2.3 de l’EN 545:2010, c’est-à-dire la terre, l’eau et les atmosphères corrosives de toute nature.

Ta evropski standard določa zahteve in preskusne metode za tovarniško nanesene epoksidne prevleke (s fuzijo sprijet prah ali dvokomponentna tekočina), ki se uporabljajo za protikorozijsko zaščito fitingov in pribora iz duktilne železove litine v skladu s standardi EN 545, EN 598, EN 969, EN 12842, EN 14525 za:
– prenos vode (npr. pitne vode) pri obratovalni temperaturi do 50 °C, brez zamrznitve; ali
– prenos odpadne vode pri obratovalni temperaturi do 45 °C, brez zamrznitve; ali
– prenos plina pri obratovalni temperaturi do 50 °C, brez zamrznitve;
– primerno za zunanja okolja, tj. tla, vode in atmosfere vseh skupnih korozijskih obremenitev, opredeljenih v točki D.2.3 standarda EN 545:2010.

This document (EN 14901-1:2014+A1:2019) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 203
“Cast iron pipes, fittings and their joints”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2020 and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by May 2020.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document includes Amendment 1 approved by CEN on 16 September 2019.

In comparison with EN 14901:2006, the following changes have been made:
— correction of several typing errors, wrong units etc.;
— actualized dates of referenced standards;
— clearer description of the coating thickness test method (7.1.5);
— attribution of performance requirements “chemical resistance” and “abrasion resistance” to
coatings in sewer applications (Lines 8 and 9 of Table A.1);
— actualization of the requirement “fitness for contact with potable water” according to the present
status (line 10 of Table A.1);
— correction of overlapping nominal sizes at DN grouping (Table A.3).
