This document determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use. It covers only hog fuel and wood chips produced from the following raw materials (see ISO 17225-1, Table 1):
— 1.1 Forest, plantation and other virgin wood;
— 1.2 By-products and residues from wood processing industry;
— 1.3 Used wood;
— 1.4 Blends and mixtures.
This document covers hog fuel that has pieces of varying size and shape, produced by crushing with blunt tools such as rollers, hammers, or flails, and wood chips which are defined as chipped woody biomass with a sub-rectangular shape and a typical length of 5 mm to 50 mm typically in the form of pieces with a defined particle size produced by mechanical treatment with sharp tools such as knives.
See 1.1.2 in ISO 17225-1, Table 1 for by-products and residues from wood processing industry, which can include chemically treated material (e.g. glued, painted, laminated), are not allowed to contain halogenated organic compounds or heavy metals at levels higher than those in typical virgin material values or higher than typical values of the country of origin (see Annex B in ISO 17225-1).
NOTE If 1.4 Blends and mixtures includes 1.3.2 Chemically treated used wood, it can be only used in the installations permitted to use 1.3.2.

Dieses Dokument legt die qualitätsbezogenen Brennstoffklassen und -spezifikationen für klassifiziertes grobes Schredderholz und klassifizierte Holzhackschnitzel für die industrielle Verwendung fest. Es umfasst nur grobes Schredderholz und Holzhackschnitzel, die aus folgenden Rohmaterialien hergestellt wurden (siehe ISO 17225 1, Tabelle 1):
— 1.1 Wald- und Plantagenholz sowie anderes naturbelassenes Holz;
— 1.2 Industrie-Restholz;
— 1.3 Gebrauchtholz;
— 1.4 Definierte und undefinierte Mischungen.
Dieses Dokument behandelt grobes Schredderholz, das aus Stücken unterschiedlicher Größe und Gestalt besteht, hergestellt durch Zerkleinern mit stumpfen Werkzeugen, wie z. B. Walzen, Hämmern oder Schlegeln, und Holzhackschnitzel, die als gehackte holzartige Biomasse mit einer fast rechteckigen Form und einer typischen Länge von 5 mm bis 50 mm, typischerweise in Form von Stücken mit einer festgelegten Partikelgröße, hergestellt durch mechanische Behandlung mit scharfen Werkzeugen, wie z. B. Messern, definiert sind.
Siehe 1.1.2 in ISO 17225 1, Tabelle 1 in Bezug auf Nebenprodukte und Rückstände aus der holzverarbeitenden Industrie, die chemisch behandeltes Material (z. B. verleimtes, angestrichenes, laminiertes Material) enthalten können, dürfen keine halogen-organischen Verbindungen oder Schwermetalle in Konzentrationen enthalten, die über denen der typischen Werte für naturbelassenes Material oder der typischen Werte für das Herkunftsland liegen (siehe ISO 17225 1, Anhang B).
ANMERKUNG Wenn 1.4 Definierte und undefinierte Mischungen 1.3.2 Chemisch behandeltes Gebrauchtholz enthält, kann es nur in den Anlagen verwendet werden, die für die Verwendung von 1.3.2 zugelassen sind.

Le présent document détermine les classes et spécifications de qualité du combustible pour plaquettes et broyat de bois à usage industriel. Il couvre uniquement les plaquettes et le broyat de bois produits à partir des matières premières suivantes (voir l'ISO 17225-1, Tableau 1):
— 1.1 Bois de forêt, de plantation et autres bois vierges;
— 1.2 Produits dérivés et sous-produits de l'industrie de transformation du bois;
— 1.3 Bois usagé;
— 1.4 Assortiments et mélanges.
Le présent document couvre le broyat de bois se présentant sous forme de morceaux de taille et de forme différentes produits par le broyage à l'aide d'outils percutants tels que des rouleaux, marteaux ou fléaux, et les plaquettes de bois définies telles qu'une biomasse ligneuse déchiquetée de forme subrectangulaire et d'une longueur type comprise entre 5 mm et 50 mm, généralement sous forme de morceaux de granulométrie définie produits par procédé mécanique à l'aide d'outils tranchants tels que des couteaux.
Voir 1.1.2 de l'ISO 17225-1, Tableau 1, pour les produits dérivés et sous-produits de l'industrie de transformation du bois qui peuvent inclure les matériaux traités chimiquement (par exemple collés, peints, stratifiés) et qui ne sont pas autorisés à contenir des composés organiques halogénés ou des métaux lourds à des niveaux supérieurs à ceux des valeurs types des matériaux vierges ou supérieurs aux valeurs types du pays d'origine (voir Annexe B de l'ISO 17225-1).
NOTE Si les assortiments et mélanges (1.4) incluent du bois usagé traité chimiquement (1.3.2), ils ne peuvent être utilisés que dans les installations autorisées à utiliser ce type de produit (1.3.2).

This document (EN ISO 17225-9:2021) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 238 "Solid
biofuels" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 335 “Solid biofuels” the secretariat of
which is held by SIS.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2022, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by January 2022.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
