Identification card systems - Man-machine interface - Part 5: Raised tactile symbols for differenciation of application on ID-1 cards

The scenario addressed by this European Standard is one where the cardholder operates the card accepting equipment (e.g. a cash dispenser, ticket machine, vending machine, mass transportation).  
It is assumed that the card is a card conforming to ISO/IEC 7810.
Increasing use is being made of machine readable plastic cards.  However, some potential user groups such as people who are elderly, disabled, blind or visually impaired could have difficulty in using existing card layouts to distinguish between cards with different functions such as a bank, telephone, pre-payment or social security card.
This standard addresses the needs of users who have difficulty reading non-embossed information on plastic cards, including persons with special needs, for example older people, minors, disabled people, visually impaired people, those with learning difficulties, first time users, and those not conversant with the local language.

Bei dem in dieser Europäischen Norm behandelten Szenarium bedient der Karteninhaber das kartenbetriebene Gerät (z. B. einen Geldausgabe Automaten, einen Kartenautomaten, einen Warenautomaten, einen Automaten für ein Massentransportmittel).
Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass die Karte ISO/IEC 7810 entspricht.
Zunehmend werden maschinenlesbare Kunststoffkarten eingesetzt. Einige potenzielle Benutzergruppen, wie zum Beispiel ältere, behinderte, blinde Menschen oder Personen mit einer Sehbehinderung, könnten jedoch Schwierigkeiten haben, diese Karten in ihrer derzeitigen Gestalt von Karten mit anderen Funktionen, wie etwa Bank , Telefon , vorausbezahlte oder Sozialversicherungskarten, zu unterscheiden.
In dieser Norm wird auf die Bedürfnisse von Benutzern eingegangen, die Schwierigkeiten beim Lesen von Kunststoffkarten ohne Prägung haben, einschließlich Personen mit besonderen Bedürfnissen, wie ältere Menschen, Minderjährige, Menschen mit einer Behinderung, Sehbehinderte, Personen mit einer Lernschwäche, Erstbenutzer sowie Personen, die die Landessprache nicht beherrschen.
Ziel dieser Norm ist es, die Gestaltungsgrundsätze festzulegen, die für die Einarbeitung erhöhter Tastsymbole in maschinenlesbare Karten erforderlich sind. Diese Norm legt in Abschnitt 6 Form, Maße und Anordnung von Tastkennzeichen für die Anwendung auf ID 1 Karten fest, die keine weitere Hochprägung enthalten. Für Karten, die bereits eine Hochprägung aufweisen, ist in Abschnitt 7 eine Alternative festgelegt.
Die Entscheidung, welche erhöhten Symbole zur Kennzeichnung von Anwendungen hinzugefügt werden, muss vom Kartenherausgeber getroffen werden.
Die in Abschnitt 7 festgelegte Alternative sollte nur angewendet werden, wenn das in Abschnitt 6 festgelegte System nicht geeignet ist (z. B. wenn die Karte bereits eine Prägung enthält). Symbole, die Abschnitt 7 entsprechen, sollten zwischen dem Karteninhaber und dem Kartenherausgeber vereinbart werden.

La présente Norme européenne présente un scénario où le porteur de la carte fait fonctionner l’équipement à
carte (par exemple, un distributeur de billets, de tickets, un distributeur automatique de marchandise, un
dispositif de contrôle d’accès dans les transports publics).
Il est supposé que la carte est conforme à l’ISO/CEI 7810.
L’utilisation des cartes en matière plastique lisibles par machine est en constante augmentation. Cependant,
certains groupes d’utilisateurs potentiels, tels que les personnes âgées, les personnes handicapées, les
personnes aveugles ou malvoyantes peuvent éprouver des difficultés, lors de l’utilisation des cartes dans leur
présentation actuelle, à faire la distinction entre des cartes ayant des fonctions différentes, par exemple, les
