This standard is applicable to heating boilers with forced draught oil burners up to a nominal heat output of 70 kW. They are operated, either with negative pressure (natural draught boiler) or with positive pressure (pressurised boiler) in the combustion chamber, in accordance with the boiler manufacturer's instructions. This standard specifies the necessary terminology, the requirements on the materials and testing of them, and marking requirements for heating boilers.

Diese Norm gilt für Heizkessel mit Ölgebläsebrennern bis zu einer Nennwärme-leistung von 70 kW, die nach den Festlegungen des Kesselherstellers entweder mit Unterdruck (Naturzugkessel) oder mit Überdruck (Überdruckkessel) im Brennraum betrieben werden. Diese Norm hat den Zweck, für Heizkessel die notwendigen Begriffe, die Bauanforderungen, die Prüfungen sowie die Kennzeichnung festzulegen. Die Kessel sind anwendbar in offenen Anlagen bis zu einem maximalen Druck von 1 bar (Druckstufe 1) und in offenen und geschlossenen Anlagen bis zu einem maximalen Druck von 3 bar (Druckstufe 2).
