Machines and plants for mining and tooling of natural stone - Safety - Requirements for edge finishing machines
This European Standard applies to table edge finishing machines (see 3.1) and belt edge finishing machines (see 3.2) which are used to grind, polish, cut and shape the edge or surface of slabs, strips or tiles of natural stone and engineered stone (e.g. agglomerated stone) as defined by EN 14618:2009.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to edge finishing machines, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.
This European Standard deals all significant hazards that may occur within the expected lifetime of the machinery including the phases of transport, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping.
This European Standard also applies to machines fitted with the following facilities/devices:
- automatic tool change;
- tilting and/or rotating head axis;
- rotating workpiece support(s);
- axes operating according a NC work programme;
- mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or vacuum workpiece clamping;
and the following accessory units:
- spindle with grinding and polishing tool;
- spindle with bush-hammering tool;
- spindle with diamond wheel;
- spindle with calibrating tool;
- spindle with dripstone tool;
- spindle with cutting tool;
- spindle with shaping tool.
This European Standard does not deal with:
- hand-held grinding machines;
- machines intended for operation in a potentially explosive atmosphere;
- operation in severe environmental conditions (e.g. extreme temperatures, corrosive environment);
- machines intended for outdoor operation.
This European Standard is not applicable to machinery which is manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN.

Diese Norm gilt für stationäre Kanten- und Konturschleifmaschinen für Naturstein.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für:
- Metallschleifmaschinen;
- Holzschleifmaschinen;
- handgeführte Schleifmaschinen;
- Maschinen, die für den Betrieb in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen vorgesehen sind;
- vor- oder nachgeschaltete Förderelemente zum Transport der Werkstücke.
Diese Norm behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse, die auf Kantenschleifmaschinen zutreffen, wenn sie bestimmungsgemäß sowie unter Bedingungen von Fehl-anwendung verwendet werden, die für den Hersteller nach vernünftigem Ermessen vorhersehbar sind (siehe Abschnitt 4). Diese Norm spezifiziert die entsprechenden technischen Maßnahmen zur Beseitigung oder Ver-minderung der Risiken, die von den signifikanten Gefährdungen ausgehen.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die Gefahren während des Transports, der Inbetriebnahme, Verwendung und Wartung, Demontage und Entsorgung.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Maschinen, die hergestellt wurden, bevor CEN dieses Dokument veröffent¬licht.

La présente Norme européenne s'applique aux machines de finition des bords à table (voir 3.1) et aux machines de finition des bords à courroie (voir 3.2) qui sont utilisées pour meuler, polir, couper, donner une forme aux bords ou à la surface des dalles, des bandes et des carreaux en pierre naturelle et en pierre artificielle (par exemple, en pierre agglomérée) telle que définie dans l'EN 14618:2009.
La présente Norme européenne traite de tous les phénomènes dangereux, situations et événements dangereux significatifs relatifs aux machines de finition des bords lorsqu'elles sont utilisées normalement et lorsqu'elles sont utilisées dans des conditions de mauvaise utilisation raisonnablement prévisibles par le fabricant (voir l’Article 4).
La présente Norme européenne spécifie les mesures techniques appropriées pour éliminer ou réduire les risques dus aux phénomènes dangereux significatifs.
La présente Norme européenne traite de tous les phénomènes dangereux pouvant survenir au cours de la durée de vie prévisible de la machine, y compris des phases de transport, de montage, de démontage, de mise hors service et de mise au rebut.
La présente Norme européenne s'applique également aux machines équipées des dispositifs/accessoires suivants :
- mécanisme de changement automatique d’outils ;
- axe de tête inclinable et/ou rotatif ;
- support(s) de pièce rotatif(s) ;
- axes dont les mouvements s'effectuent en fonction d'un programme de commande numérique ;
- bridage de pièce mécanique, pneumatique, hydraulique ou à dépression de la pièce à usiner ;
et des accessoires suivants :
- arbre doté d'un outil de meulage et rectification et d'un outil de polissage ;
- arbre doté d'un outil de bouchardage ;
- arbre doté d'une meule diamantée ;
- arbre doté d'un outil de calibrage ;
- arbre doté d'un larmier;
- arbre doté d'un outil coupant ;
- arbre doté d'un outil de rabotage ;
La présente Norme européenne ne traite pas :
- des meuleuses portatives ;
- des machines prévues pour une utilisation en atmosphère explosible ;
- de l'utilisation dans des conditions environnementales sévères (par exemple, des températures extrêmes, un environnement corrosif) ;
- des machines prévues pour être utilisées à l'extérieur.
La présente Norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux machines qui ont été fabriquées avant la date de publication du présent document par le CEN.
