La présente Norme européenne fixe une méthode de détermination de la hauteur du gazon naturel des surfaces sportives.
La présente méthode n'est pas appropriée pour les surfaces ayant une couverture végétale de moins de 50 % (celle ci étant mesurée conformément au prEN 12231) ; en effet, du fait que la compression de l'herbe est susceptible d'être accentuée, il est possible que l'on obtienne des valeurs anormalement faibles et non représentatives.
