Electroplated coatings of tin-nickel alloy - Specification and test methods (ISO 2179:1986)

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (i. e. ISO 2179:1972). Specifies requirements for electroplated coatings of the intermetallic compound SnNi, with a composition of approximately 65 % (m/m) tin and 35 % (m/m) nickel. It does not apply to threaded components, coatings on cheet, stsrip or wire in the unfabricated form, coatings on coil springs, electroplating of steels with tensile strength greater than 1 000 MPa.

Diese Internationale Norm legt die Anforderungen an galvanische Überzüge der intermetallischen
Verbindung SnNi mit einer Zusammensetzung von etwa 65 % (m/m) Zinn und 35 % (m/m) Nickel fest.
Sie gilt nicht für:
a) Gewindeteile;
b) Überzüge auf Blechen, Bändern oder Drähten in unverarbeiteter Form oder auf Gegenständen, die
daraus hergestellt wurden;
c) Überzüge auf Schraubenfedern;
d) galvanische Beschichtung von Stählen mit einer Zugfestigkeit über 1 000 MPa1) (oder entsprechender
Härte), weil derartige Stähle zu Wasserstoffversprödung (siehe 8.2) neigen.

The text of ISO 2179:1986 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 107 “Metallic and other

inorganic coatings” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over

as EN ISO 2179:2016 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 262 “Metallic and other inorganic coatings” the

secretariat of which is held by BSI.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2016, and conflicting national standards shall

be withdrawn at the latest by October 2016.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
