Non-destructive testing of welds - Part 1: Evaluation of welded joints in steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys by radiography - Acceptance levels
This European Standard specifies acceptance levels for indications from imperfections in butt welds of steel, nickel, titanium and their alloys detected by radiographic testing. If agreed, the acceptance levels may be applied to other types of welds or materials.
The acceptance levels may be related to welding standards, application standards, specifications or codes. This European Standard assumes that the radiographic testing has been carried out in accordance with EN 1435.
When assessing whether a weld meets the requirements specified for a weld quality level, the sizes of imperfections permitted by standards are compared with the dimensions of indications revealed by a radiograph made of the weld.

beziehen.

The EN 12517-1:2006 standard provides a comprehensive framework for the evaluation of welded joints in steel, nickel, titanium, and their alloys through radiographic testing. Its primary focus is on establishing acceptance levels for imperfections found in butt welds, which is critical for ensuring the integrity and reliability of welded structures used in various industrial applications. One of the key strengths of this standard lies in its clear delineation of acceptance levels. By specifying criteria for evaluating indications from imperfections, EN 12517-1:2006 serves as a vital reference for professionals in the welding and materials industry. This standard not only helps in maintaining high-quality welding practices but also lays a foundation for consistent assessment across different applications and projects. The document also emphasizes that if mutually agreed upon, these acceptance levels may be applicable to other types of welds or materials, thus enhancing its versatility. This adaptability ensures that EN 12517-1:2006 remains relevant to a broader range of welding scenarios, promoting its usage in various sectors beyond those initially outlined. Furthermore, the relationship between acceptance levels and existing welding standards, application standards, specifications, or codes reinforces the standard's credibility and authority.
