This document specifies safety requirements and test methods for children’s bedguards for domestic use intended for use with junior or adult beds.
These bedguards, when used in conjunction with a bed/mattress combination, are intended to prevent children aged between 18 months and 4 years from falling out of bed.
This document is not applicable to bedguards designed for adult use, or to bedguards which are an integral part of a bed, i.e. a permanent fixture not intended to be detached.
If the bedguard has several functions or can be converted into another function, the relevant European standard/s apply to it.

Dieses Dokument legt sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Kinderbettschutzgitter für den Wohnbereich fest, die zur Verwendung in Betten für Kinder oder Erwachsene vorgesehen sind.
Diese Bettschutzgitter sollen in Verbindung mit einer Bett-Matratzen-Kombination verhindern, dass Kinder im Alter zwischen 18 Monaten und 4 Jahren aus dem Bett fallen.
Dieses Dokument gilt weder für Bettschutzgitter, die für Erwachsene bestimmt sind, noch für Bettschutzgitter, die ein fester Bestandteil des Bettes sind, d. h. eine dauerhafte Einrichtung, die nicht abgenommen werden kann.
Falls das Bettschutzgitter mehrere Funktionen aufweist oder für eine andere Funktion umgewandelt werden kann, gilt/gelten dafür jeweils die einschlägige(n) Europäische(n) Norm(en).

Le présent document spécifie les exigences de sécurité et les méthodes d’essai pour les barrières de lit pour enfant à usage domestique destinées à être utilisées avec des lits d’enfant ou d’adulte.
Ces barrières de lit, lorsqu’elles sont utilisées avec une combinaison lit/matelas, sont destinées à empêcher les enfants de 18 mois à 4 ans de tomber du lit.
Le présent document n’est pas applicable aux barrières de lit conçues pour un usage par un adulte, ni aux barrières de lit qui font partie intégrante d’un lit, c’est-à-dire qui sont fixées de manière permanente et qui ne sont pas prévues pour être détachées.
Si la barrière de lit offre plusieurs fonctions ou peut être convertie en une autre fonction, la ou les Normes européennes pertinentes s’appliquent.

1 Scope
This document specifies safety requirements and test methods for children’s bedguards for domestic
use intended for use with junior or adult beds.

4 Test equipment
4.1 Tolerances
Unless otherwise specified, the accuracy of the test equipment shall be:
a) Forces: ±5 % of the nominal force;
b) Masses: ±0,5 % of the nominal mass;
c) Dimensions: ±1 mm;
d) Angles: ±0,5°;
e) Time: ±1 s.
