Protective clothing for firefighters - Laboratory test methods and performance requirements for wildland firefighting clothing (ISO 15384:2018)

This document specifies methods of test and minimum performance requirements for personal protective clothing, designed to protect the wearer's body, except for the head, hands, and feet, that is worn during wildland firefighting and associated activities. This clothing is not intended to provide protection during fire entrapment. This document covers the general design of the garment, the minimum level of performance for the materials employed and the methods of test to determine these levels.
This document is not applicable to clothing for use in situations encountered in structural firefighting (EN 469 or ISO 11999-3), rescue (ISO 18639) or where a high level of infrared radiation is expected (ISO 15538 or EN 1486), nor does this document cover clothing to protect against chemical, biological, electrical or radiation hazards. This document does not provide protection against high mechanical risks such as for protection when using chain saws.

Dieses Dokument legt Prüfverfahren und Mindestleistungsanforderungen für persönliche Schutzkleidung fest, die den Körper des Trägers, außer Kopf, Händen und Füßen, schützen soll und die für den Einsatz bei der Brandbekämpfung im freien Gelände und den damit verbundenen Tätigkeiten bestimmt ist. Diese Kleidung ist nicht dafür ausgelegt, dann Schutz zu bieten, wenn der Träger vom Feuer eingeschlossen ist. Dieses Dokument behandelt die allgemeine Ausführung der Kleidungsstücke, die von den verwendeten Materialien mindestens zu erreichende Leistungsstufe und die Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung dieser Stufen.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Schutzkleidung für die Brandbekämpfung in Gebäuden (nach EN 469 oder ISO 11999 3), für Rettungseinsätze (nach ISO 18639) oder für Fälle, in denen eine hohe Infrarot¬-Strahlung zu erwarten ist (ISO 15538 oder EN 1486). Ebenso wenig ist Kleidung zum Schutz vor chemischen, biologischen, elektrischen oder Strahlungsgefährdungen Gegenstand dieses Dokumentes. Dieses Dokument bietet keinen Schutz gegen hohe mechanische Risiken, wie etwa Schutz bei der Verwendung von Kettensägen.

Le présent document spécifie des méthodes d'essai et des exigences minimales de performance relatives à l'habillement de protection individuelle conçu pour protéger le corps de l'utilisateur, à l'exception de la tête, des mains et des pieds, et portés pendant la lutte contre les feux d'espaces naturels et les activités connexes. Cet habillement n'est pas destiné à assurer une protection en cas d'encerclement par le feu. Le présent document s'applique à la conception générale du vêtement, au niveau minimal de performance des matériaux employés et aux méthodes d'essai permettant de déterminer ces niveaux.
Le présent document ne s'applique pas aux vêtements destinés à être utilisés dans le cadre de situations relevant de la lutte contre les incendies de structures (EN 469 ou ISO 11999‑3) ou des activités de sauvetage (ISO 18639), ou lorsqu'un niveau élevé de rayonnement infrarouge est envisagé (ISO 15538 ou EN 1486). Le présent document ne traite pas non plus de l'habillement de protection contre les dangers chimiques, biologiques, électriques et radiologiques. Le présent document ne couvre pas les protections contre les risques mécaniques élevés, telles que celles utilisées, par exemple, pour les travaux impliquant des scies-à-chaîne.

This document (EN ISO 15384:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 94 "Personal
safety - Personal protective equipment" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 162
“Protective clothing including hand and arm protection and lifejackets” the secretariat of which is held
by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2020, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by October 2020.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 15614:2007.
