Copper and copper alloys - Pre-insulated copper tubes with solid covering
This European Standard specifies the requirements, sampling, test methods and conditions of delivery for seamless
round copper tubes covered with solid plastics material.
It is applicable to tubes intended for:
- distributing networks for hot water and cold water;
- hot water heating systems (temperature not exceeding 95 °C) including underfloor heating systems;
- domestic gas and liquid fuel distribution.
NOTE The primary purpose of the covering is to protect the copper tube against external corrosion in service. In addition, the
covering can give some protection against impact and mechanical loading during transportation, installation and operation.
Coverings whose primary objective is thermal insulation are not included in this standard.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen, Probenentnahme, Prüfverfahren und die Lieferbedingungen für nahtlose Rundrohre aus Kupfer mit massivem Mantel aus Kunststoff fest.
Sie gilt für Rohre, die bestimmt sind für:
- Kalt- und Warmwasser-Verteilungsnetze;
- Warmwasser-Heizungssysteme (Temperatur nicht über 95 °C), einschließlich Fußbodenheizungssysteme;
- Verteilung gasförmiger und flüssiger Hausbrennstoffe.
ANMERKUNG Die wichtigste Aufgabe des Mantels ist, Rohre aus Kupfer gegen Korrosion von außen während des Betriebs zu schützen. Zusätzlich kann der Mantel einen gewissen Schutz gegen Schlag- und Druckbeanspruchung beim Transport, Einbau und während des Betriebs geben.
Mäntel, deren wichtigstes Ziel eine Wärmeisolierung ist, sind in dieser Norm nicht eingeschlossen.

La présente Norme européenne établit les exigences, le mode d'échantillonnage, les méthodes d'essai et les conditions de livraison applicables aux tubes ronds sans soudure en cuivre gainés de matière plastique compacte.
Elle s'applique aux tubes destinés :
¾ à l'alimentation de réseaux en eau chaude et eau froide ;
¾ aux systèmes de chauffage à eau chaude (température inférieure ou égale à 95 °C) et notamment aux systèmes de chauffage par le sol ;
¾ à la distribution de gaz domestique et de combustibles liquides.
NOTE L'objectif principal de la gaine est de protéger le tube en cuivre contre la corrosion externe pendant sa mise en service. En complément, la gaine peut protéger le tube d'un choc ou d'une contrainte mécanique survenant lors du transport, de l'installation et de la mise en service.
Les gaines dont l'objectif principal est l'isolation thermique ne sont pas traitées dans la présente norme.

Foreword
This document EN 13349:2002 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 133 "Copper and copper
alloys", the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by February 2003, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest
by February 2003.
Within its programme of work, Technical Committee CEN/TC 133 requested CEN/TC 133/WG 3.1 "Copper tubes"
to prepare the following standard:
EN 13349, Copper and copper alloys — Pre-insulated copper tubes with solid covering.
