Reinforced thermosetting moulding compounds - Specification for Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) and Bulk Moulding Compound (BMC) - Part 1: Designation

1.1   This part of prEN 14598 establishes a data block system for the designation of Sheet Moulding Compounds (SMC) and Bulk Moulding Compounds (BMC)
1.2   The types of SMC and BMC are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on information about basic polymer parameters, fillers/reinforcement content and type, intended method of processing and/or manufacturing, specific characteristics and designatory properties.
1.3   This International Standard is applicable to all  SMC and BMC  ready for normal use in the form of sheets  and bulks.
1.4   It is not intended to imply that materials having the same designation give necessarily the same performance. This part of prEN 14598 does not provide engineering data, performance data or data on processing conditions which may be required to specify a material for a particular application and/or method of processing.If such additional properties are required, they shall be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in part 2 of this International Standard, if suitable.
1.5   Whenever general requirement data in the part 3 of this International Standard need to be indicated, this data block system is also the basis for it.
1.6   To ensure that the meanings of codes remain unambiguous and to avoid conflicts within the system codes and abbreviations have to be coordinated with ISO/TC 61/SC 1.

In diesem Teil von EN 14598 wird ein Daten-Blocksystem zur Bezeichnung von Harzmatten (SMC) und
faserverstärkten Pressmassen (BMC) festgelegt.
Die Typen von SMC und BMC werden mit einem Einteilungssystem voneinander unterschieden, das auf An-
gaben über Kennwerte des Basispolymers, Füll-/Verstärkungsstoffanteil und -art, vorgesehene Verarbeitungs-
und/oder Herstellungsverfahren, besonderen Merkmalen und kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften beruht.
Dieses Dokument ist auf sämtliche gebrauchsfertigen SMC und BMC in Form von Matten und teigartigen
Formmassen anwendbar.
Es ist vorgesehen, zu unterstellen, dass Formmassen mit der gleichen Bezeichnung notwendigerweise das
gleiche Leistungsvermögen haben. Dieser Teil von EN 14598 enthält keine technischen Daten,
Leistungsangaben oder Angaben zu Verarbeitungsbedingungen, die zur Spezifizierung einer Formmasse für
einen besonderen Verwendungszweck und/oder ein bestimmtes Verarbeitungsverfahren erforderlich sein
können.
Immer, wenn Daten allgemeiner Anforderungen nach Teil 3 dieses Dokuments anzugeben sind, ist dieses
Daten-Blocksystem auch die Grundlage dafür.

La présente partie de l�EN 14598 établit un système de blocs de données pour la désignation des mats
préimprégnés (SMC) et des mélanges à mouler en masse (BMC).
Les types de SMC et de BMC sont différenciés par un système de classification fondé sur des informations
sur des paramètres de base relatifs aux polymères, à la teneur en charges ou matériaux de renfort, à la
méthode voulue de mise en oeuvre et/ou de fabrication, aux caractéristiques spécifiques et aux propriétés de
désignation.
Le présent document est applicable à tous les SMC et BMC prêts à un emploi normal sous forme de mats et
en masse.
Le fait que des matériaux aient la même désignation n'implique pas qu'ils présentent nécessairement les
mêmes performances. La présente partie de l�EN 14598 ne comporte pas de données sur la conception, la
performance ou les conditions de mise en oeuvre qui peuvent être exigées pour spécifier un matériau pour
une application et/ou une méthode de mise en oeuvre particulière.
Lorsqu�il est nécessaire d�indiquer des données pour les exigences générales de la partie 3 du présent
document, ce système de blocs de données en constitue aussi la base.
