Safety of industrial trucks - Pedestrian propelled industrial platform trucks
This document applies to pedestrian propelled industrial platform trucks as defined in 3.1 with a rated capacity up to and including 500 kg, hereinafter referred to as “trucks” and designed for general purposes.
This document does not apply to:
— shopping trolleys referred to in EN 1929, Parts 1 to 4 and 7 (CEN/TC 291);
— roll containers referred to in EN 12674, Parts 1 to 4 (CEN/TC 261);
— trucks that are intended to be towed by powered vehicles, e.g. milk-run-trains/trailer trains/tugger trains.
This document deals with the technical requirements to minimize the hazards listed in Annex C which can arise during commissioning, operation and maintenance of trucks when carried out in accordance with the specifications as intended by the manufacturer.
This document does not specify the additional requirements for:
— operation in severe conditions (e.g. extreme environmental conditions such as: freezer applications, high temperatures, corrosive environment);
— operation subject to special rules (e.g. potentially explosive atmospheres);
— handling of loads the nature of which could lead to dangerous situations (e.g. molten metal, acids/alkalis, radiating materials, especially brittle loads);
— hazards occurring during construction, transportation, decommissioning and disposal;
— direct contact with foodstuffs;
— operation on gradients or on surfaces other than smooth, level, hard surfaces;
— trucks designed for special applications (e.g., trucks used in hospitals as dinner trollies);
— trucks fitted with hinged or sliding doors.
Other possible limitations of the scope of other standards referred to that also apply to this document.
Hazards relating to noise, vibration, visibility and static electricity are not dealt with in this document.
This document applies to trucks manufactured after the date of issue.

Dieses Dokument gilt für Mitgänger-Plattformwagen nach 3.1 mit einer Nenntragfähigkeit von bis zu 500 kg, nachfolgend als „Plattformwagen“ bezeichnet, welche für den allgemeinen Gebrauch konstruiert wurden.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für:
— Einkaufswagen nach EN 1929, Teile 1 bis 4 und 7 (CEN/TC 291);
— Rollbehälter nach EN 12674, Teile 1 bis 4 (CEN/TC 261);
— Wagen, die zum Ziehen durch motorisierte Fahrzeuge vorgesehen sind, z. B. Milk-run-Züge/Lastzüge/Routenzüge.
Dieses Dokument behandelt die technischen Anforderungen, um die in Anhang C aufgeführten Gefährdungen zu minimieren, die während der in Übereinstimmung mit den Vorgaben des Herstellers durchgeführten Inbetriebnahme, des Betriebes und der Instandhaltung von Plattformwagen entstehen können.
Dieses Dokument legt keine zusätzlichen Anforderungen fest für:
— den Betrieb unter erschwerten Bedingungen (z. B. Umgebungsbedingungen wie Kühlhausbetrieb, hohe Temperaturen, korrosive Umgebung):
— den Betrieb unter bestimmten Regeln (z. B. mögliche explosionsfähige Atmosphären);
— die Handhabung von Lasten, deren Eigenschaften zu gefährlichen Situationen führen können (z. B. feuerflüssige Massen, Säuren/Basen, radioaktive Materialien, besonders brüchige Lasten);
— Gefährdungen, die während der Produktion, des Transports, der Außerbetriebnahme und der Verschrottung auftreten;
— Plattformwagen, die in direktem Kontakt mit Lebensmitteln stehen;
— die Verwendung auf Neigungen oder auf anderen als glatten, ebenen und festen Untergründen;
— Plattformwagen für besondere Anwendungen (z. B. Plattformwagen für die Verwendung in Krankenhäusern als Speisewagen);
— Plattformwagen mit Pendel- oder Schiebetüren.
Weitere mögliche Begrenzungen des Anwendungsbereiches anderer Normen, auf die in diesem Dokument Bezug genommen wird, müssen auch berücksichtigt werden.
Gefährdungen durch Lärm, Vibration, Sichtverhältnisse und statische Elektrizität sind nicht Bestandteil dieses Dokuments.
Dieses Dokument gilt für Plattformwagen, die nach der Veröffentlichung der Norm hergestellt werden.

Le présent document s'applique aux chariots manuels de manutention à plateforme tels que définis en 3.1, ayant une capacité nominale jusqu'à 500 kg inclus, désignés ci-après « chariots » et conçus pour un usage général.
Le présent document ne s'applique pas aux :
— chariots d’achat référencés dans l’EN 1929, parties 1 à 4 et 7 (CEN/TC 291) ;
— conteneurs à roulettes référencés dans l’EN 12674, parties 1 à 4 (CEN/TC 261) ;
— chariots qui sont prévus pour être tractés par des véhicules motorisés, par exemple, milkruns / trains routiers / trains logistiques.
Le présent document traite des prescriptions techniques pour minimiser les phénomènes dangereux, énumérés à l’Annexe C, qui peuvent apparaître pendant la mise en service, le fonctionnement et la maintenance des chariots lorsqu'ils sont utilisés conformément aux spécifications telles que prévues par le fabricant.
Le présent document ne spécifie pas de prescriptions complémentaires pour :
— l'utilisation dans des conditions sévères (par exemple, des conditions environnementales extrêmes telles que : applications frigorifiques, hautes températures, environnement corrosif) ;
— l'utilisation sujette à des règles spéciales (par exemple, atmosphères potentiellement explosibles) ;
— la manutention de charges dont la nature pourrait conduire à des situations dangereuses (par exemple, métal en fusion, acide/base, matériaux émetteurs de radiations, charges particulièrement fragiles) ;

— les contacts directs avec les denrées alimentaires ;

Les phénomènes dangereux relatifs au bruit, aux vibrations, à la visibilité et à l'électricité statique ne sont pas traités dans le présent document.

1.1 Ta evropski standard se uporablja za ročno gnana vozila z visokim dvigom za talni transport, kot je določeno v točki 3.1., z nazivno nosilnostjo do vključno 500 kg (v nadaljevanju: »vozila«), ki so namenjena za splošno uporabo.
1.2 Ta standard se ne uporablja za:
– nakupovalne vozičke, navedene v delih od 1 do 6 standarda EN 1929 (CEN/TC 291);
– transportne vozičke z ograjo, navedene v delih od 1 do 4 standarda EN 12674 (CEN/TC 261);
– vozila, namenjena vleki z gnanimi vozili (npr. vlečna skladiščna vozila – »milk-run«).
1.3 Ta standard obravnava tehnične zahteve za zmanjšanje nevarnosti iz točke 4, ki se lahko pojavijo med zagonom, obratovanjem in vzdrževanjem vozil, kadar se ti postopki izvajajo v skladu s specifikacijami proizvajalca.
1.4 Ta standard ne določa dodatnih zahtev za:
– obratovanje v zahtevnih razmerah (npr. izjemni okoljski pogoji, kot so zmrzal, visoke temperature, korozivno okolje);
– obratovanje, pri katerem veljajo posebna pravila (npr. potencialno eksplozivne atmosfere);
– ravnanje s tovori, ki lahko povzročijo nevarne razmere (npr. taljena kovina, kisline/baze, sevajoči materiali, posebej krhki tovori);
– nevarnosti, ki se pojavijo med gradnjo, prevozom, prenehanjem uporabe in odstranitvijo;
– neposreden stik z živili;
– obratovanje na pobočjih ali površinah, ki niso gladke, ravne in trdne;
– vozila, zasnovana za posebne primere rabe (npr. v bolnišnicah, vozički za strežbo);
– vozila z vrati na tečajih ali drsnimi vrati.
1.5 Druge možne omejitve glede področja uporabe drugih povezanih standardov veljajo tudi za ta standard.
1.6 Ta standard ne obravnava nevarnosti v zvezi z vidljivostjo in statično elektriko.

This document (EN 1757:2022) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 150 “Industrial
trucks - Safety”, the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by November 2022, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by November 2022.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 1757-3:2002.
In comparison with the previous edition, the following technical modifications have been made:
— application changed to pedestrian propelled industrial platform trucks as defined in 3.1 with a
rated capacity up to and including 500 kg (in the previous edition 1 000 kg);
— example given for trucks that are intended to be towed by powered vehicles;
— reference made to EN ISO 3691-1:2015 and ISO 5053-1;
— definition 3.1 and 3.2 revised;
— definition 3.5 (operator) deleted;
— minimum span of tiller changed into 200 mm for each hand (alignment with EN ISO 3691-5);
