This document specifies how a preliminary welding procedure specification (pWPS) is qualified by welding procedure tests.
This document specifies the conditions for the execution of welding procedure tests and the qualification range for welding procedures for all practical welding operations within the range of variables listed in Clause 8.
This document specifies the required tests. Additional tests can be required by application standards.
This document applies to the arc welding of titanium, zirconium and their alloys in all product forms. Arc welding is covered by the following processes in accordance with ISO 4063:
131 – metal inert gas welding, MIG welding;
14 – tungsten inert gas welding, TIG welding;
15 – plasma arc welding.
The principles of this document can be applied to other fusion welding processes.

Dieses Dokument legt fest, wie eine vorläufige Schweißanweisung (pWPS, en: preliminary welding procedure specification) durch Schweißverfahrensprüfungen qualifiziert wird.
Dieses Dokument legt die Bedingungen für die Durchführung der Schweißverfahrensprüfungen und den Geltungsbereich für Schweißverfahren für alle praktischen schweißtechnischen Tätigkeiten innerhalb des Bereiches der Einflussgrößen nach Abschnitt 8 fest.
Dieses Dokument legt die geforderten Prüfungen fest. Zusätzliche Prüfungen können durch Anwendungsnormen gefordert werden.
Dieses Dokument wird angewendet beim Lichtbogenschweißen von Titan, Zirconium und ihren Legierungen in allen Produktformen. Lichtbogenschweißen umfasst die folgenden Schweißprozesse nach ISO 4063:
131 — Metall Inertgasschweißen (MIG Schweißen);
14 — Wolfram Inertgasschweißen (WIG Schweißen);
15 — Plasmaschweißen.
Die Grundsätze dieses Dokuments können bei anderen Schmelzschweißverfahren angewendet werden.

Le présent document spécifie les contrôles, examens et essais à réaliser. Des contrôles, examens et essais complémentaires peuvent être exigés par des normes d'application.
Le présent document s’applique au soudage à l’arc du titane, du zirconium et de leurs alliages sous toutes formes. Le soudage à l’arc est couvert par les procédés suivants conformément à l’ISO 4063:
131 – soudage à l’arc sous protection de gaz inerte (soudage MIG) avec fil plein;
14 – soudage à l’arc sous protection de gaz inerte avec électrode de tungstène (soudage TIG);
15 – soudage plasma.
Les principes du présent document peuvent s’appliquer à d’autres procédés de soudage par fusion.

This document (EN ISO 15614-5:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 44 "Welding
and allied processes" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 “Welding and allied
processes” the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2025, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by March 2025.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 15614-5:2004.

Relationship between this European Standard and the Essential
Requirements of EU Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) aimed to be covered
This European Standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardization request M/601 to
provide one voluntary means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Pressure
Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU.
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive,
compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZA.1 and application of the
edition of the normatively referenced standards as given in Table ZA.2 confers, within the limits of the
scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding Essential Requirements of
that Directive and associated EFTA regulations.
