Diese Internationale Norm legt eine Reihe von Landoltring-Sehzeichen fest und beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Messung der Sehschärfe für die Ferne unter Tageslichtbedingungen für gütachterliche Zwecke und Zulassungsverfahren.Sie ist weder als Norm für klinische Messungen noch zur Bestätigung von Blindheit oder Sehbehinderung vorgesehen. Anmerkung 1: Zum Zwecke der Messung der Sehschärfe sollten das Normsehzeichen oder andere Sehzeichen, die an das Normsehzeichen angeschlossen wurden (wie in ISO 8597 beschrieben), benutzt werden.
