ISO 5395-1:2013 specifies terminology and common test methods used for verification of safety requirements for combustion engine powered rotary lawnmowers and cylinder lawnmowers including pedestrian-controlled (with or without sulky) and ride-on types (hereafter named "lawnmower"), and equipped with: metallic cutting means and/or; non-metallic cutting means with one or more cutting elements pivotally mounted on a generally circular drive unit, where these cutting elements rely on centrifugal force to achieve cutting, and have a kinetic energy for each single cutting element of 10 J or more.
It does not apply to: robotic and remote-controlled lawnmowers, flail mowers, grassland mowers, sickle bar mowers, towed/semi-mounted grass cutting machines, and scrub-clearing machines; cutting-means assembly when used in combination with an agricultural tractor; electrically powered and battery-powered lawnmowers.
Note that IEC 60335-1 together with IEC 60335-2-77, give requirements for pedestrian-controlled walk-behind electrically powered lawnmowers.
ISO 5395-1:2013 is not applicable to lawnmowers which are manufactured before the date of publication of this document.

Dieser Teil der ISO 5395 legt Begriffe und allgemeine Prüfverfahren zur Überprüfung sicherheitstechnischer Anforderungen für Sichel- und Spindelmäher mit Antrieb durch integrierten Verbrennungsmotor einschließlich handgeführter (mit oder ohne Mitfahreinrichtung) und Aufsitz-Typen (sitzend oder stehend) fest, (nachfolgend „Rasenmäher“ genannt) und ausgestattet sind mit:
   metallischem Schneidwerkzeug und/oder
   nichtmetallischem Schneidwerkzeug mit einem oder mehreren Schneidelementen, die auf einer zentralen Antriebseinheit drehbar angeordnet sind und durch Zentrifugalkraft der Schneidelemente den Schneid-vorgang erzeugen und eine kinetische Energie eines einzelnen Schneidwerkzeuges von 10 Joule und mehr aufweisen.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für:
-   Robotermäher und Rasenmäher mit Fernsteuerung, Schlegelmäher, Grasslandmäher, Balkenmäher, gezogene / halbgezogene Grasschneidemaschinen und Gestrüppmäher;
-   Schneidwerkzeugbaugruppe, wenn in Kombination mit einem landwirtschaftlichen Traktor genutzt;
-   elektrische und Batterie betriebene Rasenmäher.
ANMERKUNG   IEC 60335-1 [1] zusammen mit IEC 60335-2-77 [2] legen die Anforderungen für handgeführte elektrisch betriebene Rasenmäher fest.

L'ISO 5395-1 spécifie la terminologie et les méthodes d'essai utilisées pour vérifier les exigences en matière de sécurité des tondeuses à gazon à moteur à combustion interne, à axe vertical ou à lames hélicoïdales, y compris les tondeuses à conducteur à pied (avec ou sans sulky) et à conducteur assis (appelées «tondeuses à gazon» dans la suite du texte), équipées d'un organe de coupe métallique, et/ou d'un organe de coupe non métallique avec un ou plusieurs éléments de coupe montés d'une manière pivotante sur une unité centrale, en général circulaire: l'action de coupe de ces éléments dépend de la force centrifuge et l'énergie cinétique de chaque élément de coupe est égale ou supérieure à 10 J.
L'ISO 5395-1 n'est pas applicable aux tondeuses à gazon robotisées et télécommandées, tondeuses à fléaux, faucheuses, tondeuses à barre de coupe, tondeuses remorquées/semi-portées et débroussailleuses; aux assemblages d'organe de coupe lorsqu'ils sont utilisés avec un tracteur agricole; aux tondeuses à gazon électriques et à batterie.
NOTE       La CEI 60335‑1 et la CEI 60335‑2‑77 donnent les exigences relatives aux tondeuses à gazon électriques à conducteur à pied.
L'ISO 5395-1 n'est pas applicable aux tondeuses à gazon qui sont fabriquées avant sa date de publication.

Ta del standarda ISO 5395 določa terminologijo in splošne preskusne metode, ki se uporabljajo za preverjanje varnostnih zahtev za motorne rotacijske vrtne kosilnice in cilindrične vrtne kosilnice, vključno z ročno vodenimi (z vozom ali brez njega) kosilnicami ter kosilnicami za košnjo v sedečem položaju (v nadaljnjem besedilu: »vrtna kosilnica«), ki so opremljene z: – kovinskim rezalnim mehanizmom in/ali – nekovinskim rezalnim mehanizmom z enim ali več rezalnimi elementi, ki so vrtljivo nameščeni na splošno krožno pogonsko enoto, pri čemer se ti rezalni elementi zanašajo na centrifugalno silo, da dosežejo rezanje, s kinetično energijo enega rezalnega elementa, ki presega 10 J. Ta dokument se ne uporablja za: – robotske in daljinsko vodene vrtne kosilnice, mulčerje, kosilnice za travišča, kosilnice s srpom na drogu, vlečene/polpriklopne stroje za košnjo trave in stroje za odstranjevanje grmičev; – sestave za košnjo, kadar se uporabljajo v kombinaciji s kmetijskim traktorjem; – vrtne kosilnice na električni in baterijski pogon.

This document (EN ISO 5395-1:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 23 "Tractors and
machinery for agriculture and forestry" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 “Tractors and
machinery for agriculture and forestry” the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
