This Clause of EN 50194 is replaced by: This European Standard specifies test methods and performance requirements for electrical apparatus for the detection of combustible gases designed for continuous operation in a fixed installation in recreational vehicles and similar premises. NOTE 1 For caravan holiday homes EN 50194 applies. This standard specifies apparatus designed to operate in the event of an escape of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and/or petrol (gasoline) vapour and to provide a visual and audible alarm and an executive action in the form of an output signal that can actuate directly or indirectly a shut-off device and/or other ancillary device (Type A of EN 50194). The standard excludes apparatus for the detection of toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (see EN 50291). Apparatus complying with this standard is not considered suitable for industrial or commercial installations for which EN 61779-1 and EN 61779-4 apply. NOTE 2 Apparatus tested in accordance with the EN 61779 series of standards will not necessarily comply with this standard.

Dieser Abschnitt der EN 50194 wird durch den Folgenden ersetzt. Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren und das Betriebsverhalten von elektrischen Geräten zur Detektion brennbarer Gase fest, die ortsfest installiert zum kontinuierlichen Betrieb in Freizeitfahrzeugen oder ähnlichen Umgebungen bestimmt sind. ANMERKUNG 1 Für Mobilheime gilt die EN 50194. Diese Norm beschreibt Geräte, die im Falle einer Freisetzung von Flüssiggas (LPG) und/oder Benzin-dämpfen einen optischen und akustischen Alarm liefern und eine Funktion in Form eines Ausgangs-signals, das zur direkten oder indirekten Auslösung einer Abschaltvorrichtung und/oder einer anderen Hilfsvorrichtung verwendet werden kann (Typ A der EN 50194). Diese Norm schließt Geräte zur Detektion toxischer Gase, wie Kohlenmonoxid, aus (sie EN 50291). Geräte, die diese Norm erfüllen, werden nicht als geeignet angesehen für industrielle oder kommerzielle Einrichtungen, für die EN 61779-1 und EN 61779-4 gelten. Cet article de la EN 50194 est remplacé par: La présente Norme Européenne spécifie les méthodes d’essai et les exigences de qualité de fonctionnement pour les matériels électriques de détection de gaz combustibles, conçus pour être utilisés en fonctionnement continu dans une installation fixe dans les véhicules de loisir et les locaux similaires. NOTE 1 Pour les caravanes de type “mobile home”, la EN 50194 est applicable. La présente norme spécifie les matériels conçus pour fonctionner en cas de fuite de gaz de pétrole liquéfié (GPL) et/ou de vapeur de pétrole (carburant), émettre un signal d’alarme visuel et sonore, et fournir une action sous la forme d’un signal de sortie qui peut activer directement ou indirectement un dispositif de coupure ou un autre dispositif de servitude (Type A de la EN 50194). La présente norme ne s’applique pas aux matériels de détection de gaz toxiques, tels que le monoxyde de carbone (voir la EN 50291). Le matériel conforme à la présente norme n’est pas considéré comme adapté aux installations industrielles et commerciales. Pour ces dernières, ce sont la EN 61779-1 et la EN 61779-4 qui sont applicables. NOTE 2 Les matériels soumis à des essais en accord avec la série de normes EN 61779 ne sont pas nécessairement conformes à la présente norme.

This European Standard was prepared by WG 4 of the Technical Committee CENELEC TC 216,
Gas detectors. The text of the draft was submitted to the formal vote and was approved by
CENELEC as EN 50194-2 on 2006-03-01.
The following dates were fixed:

national standard or by endorsement
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2009-03-01
This Part 2 is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 50194:2000. This European Standard
supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of EN 50194; where it states “addition”,
“modification” or “replacement” the relevant text of EN 50194 is to be adapted accordingly.
