Ta mednarodni standard obravnava varnost električnih sesalnikov prahu in aparatov za čiščenje s sesanjem vode za gospodinjsko in podobno uporabo, vključno s sesalniki za nego živali, katerih ocenjena napetost ne presega 250 V. Prav tako velja za osrednje postavljene sesalnike prahu in avtomatske baterijske čistilnike. Ta standard prav tako velja za motorizirane čistilne glave in cevi za prenašanje toka, povezane z določenim sesalnikom. EN 60335-2-2:2010/A11:2012 is a CENELEC amendment to the household electrical safety standard addressing vacuum cleaners and water‑suction cleaning appliances. It modifies EN 60335-2-2:2010 and supplements EN 60335-1:2012 to define safety requirements for appliances intended for household and similar environments (rated voltage ≤ 250 V). The amendment covers mains, battery-powered and centrally-sited vacuum cleaners, motorized cleaning heads and current‑carrying hoses, and clarifies user information and test methods.

• Heating / temperature rise: Adds Table Z101 with maximum allowable temperature rises (K) for external surfaces under normal operation:
  • Bare metal: 40 K (≤850 mm) / 45 K (>850 mm)
  • Coated metal: 45 K / 55 K
  • Glass & ceramic: 55 K / 60 K
  • Plastic (>0.3 mm): 60 K / 65 K
  • Notes: adjusted limits for thin coatings and air outlets (+10 K or +5 K as applicable).
• Stability & mechanical hazards: Appliances must not activate hazardous driven parts when overturned. Access to rotating brushes must be prevented during normal operation (foot‑probe test, Figure Z101).
• Mechanical strength: Enclosures receive three 1.0 J impact blows at weak points. Hand‑held appliances undergo a 700 mm drop test five times and must not emit flames or molten metal and must continue to meet safety clauses.
• Construction: Hinged, free‑standing handles require a specific release action; supply cords must resist damage if run over; functional openings for power rotating brushes are limited to 120 mm along their major dimension.

This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-2:2010; it was approved by CENELEC on
2012-07-09. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.

This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the

This standard covers the Principle Elements of the Safety Objectives for Electrical Equipment
Designed for Use within Certain Voltage Limits (LVD - 2006/95/EC).

1 Scope
Replacement:
This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following.
This European Standard deals with the safety of electric vacuum cleaners and water suction cleaning
appliances for household and similar purposes, including vacuum cleaners for animal grooming, their
rated voltage being not more than 250 V. It also applies to centrally-sited vacuum cleaners and
automatic battery-powered cleaners.
This European Standard also applies to motorized cleaning heads and current-carrying hoses
associated with a particular vacuum cleaner.
Appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and other premises for normal housekeeping
purposes, are within the scope of this European Standard.
NOTE Z101 Examples of appliance for household environment are appliances for typical housekeeping functions used in the
household environment that may also be used by non-expert users for typical housekeeping functions:
– in shops and other similar working environments;
– in farm houses;
– by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
– in bed and breakfast type environments.
NOTE Z102 Household environments include the dwelling and its associated buildings, the garden, etc.
As far as is practicable, this European Standard deals with the common hazards presented by
appliances that are encountered by all persons in household and similar environments.
However, in general, it does not take into account
– children playing with the appliance,
– the use of the appliance by very young children,
– the use of the appliance by young children without supervision.
It is recognized that very vulnerable people may have needs beyond the level addressed in this
European Standard.
This European Standard does not apply to
– appliances intended exclusively for industrial and commercial purposes,
– appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the
presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas),
– wet and dry vacuum cleaners, including power brush, for commercial use (EN 60335-2-69).
NOTE Z103 Attention is drawn to the fact that
– for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary,
– in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities
responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities.
