Foreword
The text of document 17C/253/FDIS, future edition 1 of IEC 61958, prepared by SC 17C, High-voltage
prefabricated switchgear and controlgear assemblies, of IEC TC 17, Switchgear and controlgear, was
submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61958 on
2001-01-01.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2002-03-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2004-01-01
Annexes designated "normative" are part of the body of the standard.
In this standard, annex ZA is normative and annex ZB is informative.
Annexes ZA and ZB have been added by CENELEC.

A-deviations
A-deviation: National deviation due to regulations, the alteration of which is for the time being outside
the competence of the CEN/CENELEC member.
This European Standard does not fall under any Directive of the EC.
In the relevant CENELEC countries these A-deviations are valid instead of the provisions of the
European Standard until they have been removed.
Clause Deviation
5.5 Austria (Elektroschutzverordnung 1995 BGBl. 706/1995)
Work on active parts may only be started if the voltage has been disconnected according
to the five safety rules laid down in ÖVE E 5 Part 1:1989 and ÖVE EN 50110, Part
1:1997-06. Therefore, voltage indicating elements shall bear the information:
"Nicht zum Feststellen der Spannungsfreiheit zulässig"
(English translation: "Not allowed for detection of absence of voltage".
Germany (Accident Prevention Regulation BGV A2 "Elektrische Anlagen und
Betriebsmittel" based on the German Labour Protection law (7. August 1996, BGBl.
IS.1246))
According to paragraph 2 of § 6 of the BGV A2, work on active parts may only be started
if the voltage has been disconnected according to the five safety rules. At medium
voltage switchgear and controlgear the detection of the voltage disconnection (the 3rd
safety rule) may be carried out with voltage detectors or voltage detecting systems only.
To prevent accidents the user/operator shall be in a position to differentiate
unambiguously between the voltage detecting systems and the voltage indicating
systems. Voltage indicating systems shall therefore bear the following additional marking:
"Nicht zum Feststellen der Spannungsfreiheit zulässig!"
(English translation: "Not allowed for detection!")
