IEC 61169-71:2022, which is a sectional specification (SS), provides information and rules for the preparation of detail specifications (DS) for RF coaxial connector, typically for use in 50 Ω radio communication systems, type NEX10® .
This document describes mating face dimensions for general purpose connectors (grade 2), dimensional details of standard test connectors (grade 1), gauging information and tests selected from IEC 61169-1, applicable to all detail specifications relating to type NEX10® RF coaxial connectors.
This document indicates recommended performance characteristics to be considered when writing a detail specification and it covers test schedules and inspection requirements for assessment levels M and H.

1 Scope

This part of IEC 61169, which is a sectional specification (SS), provides information and rules

for the preparation of detail specifications (DS) for RF coaxial connector, typically for use in

50 Ω radio communication systems, type NEX10® .

This document describes mating face dimensions for general purpose connectors (grade 2),

dimensional details of standard test connectors (grade 1), gauging information and tests

selected from IEC 61169-1, applicable to all detail specifications relating to type NEX10® RF

coaxial connectors.

This document indicates recommended performance characteristics to be considered when

writing a detail specification and it covers test schedules and inspection requirements for

assessment levels M and H.

The type NEX10® RF coaxial connectors are used with all kinds of RF cables and microstrip

circuits in radio frequency transmission systems with operating frequencies up to 20 GHz.

The test procedure is as follows:
a) Sizing

The gauge A shall be inserted into the socket centre contact three times. This is a sizing

operation.
b) Insertion/separation force test

After sizing, gauge A shall be inserted into the resilient contact. The insertion force shall not

exceed 10 N.

Separation force is measured with gauge B and shall require a minimum force of 0,5 N.

4.2.2 Gauge rings for plug outer contact

The gauge ring for plug outer contact is shown in Figure 5, and the dimensions are shown in

Table 5.

The test procedure is as follows:
a) Sizing

The gauge A shall be completely inserted three times into the resilient outer contact. This is a

sizing operation.
b) Insertion/separation force test

After sizing, gauge A shall be inserted into the resilient contact. The insertion force shall not

exceed 15 N.

Separation force is measured with gauge B and shall require a minimum force of 3 N. All contact

segments shall touch the diameter b in the region of the tips.
4.3 Standard test connectors: Grade 1
4.3.1 Standard test connector with pin centre contact

The interface of a standard test connector with pin centre contact is shown in Figure 6, and its

dimensions are shown in Table 6.
