This document was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 54, Essential oils.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 3065:2011), which has been technically

revised.
The main changes to the previous edition are as follows:
— the title has been changed;
— the Scope has been extended;
— the structure of the standard has been revised;

— 3.1 has been reworded to include essential oil containing a volume fraction above 80 % of 1,8­cineole,

obtained by steam distillation of foliage of eucalyptus;

— in 4.1, minor changes with refractive index (formerly 4.5) and optical rotation (formerly 4.6) have

been included;

— in 4.2, more substantial changes to some components have been included, mainly a higher upper

limit for 1,8-cineole and the omission of camphene, β-pinene, α-terpineol and camphor;

— in Annex A, camphene and camphor have been omitted from peak identification in Figures A.1 and A.2.

Le présent document a été élaboré par le Comité technique ISO/TC 54, Huiles essentielles.

Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition (ISO 3065:2011), qui a fait l’objet d’une

révision technique.

Par rapport à l’édition précédente, les principales modifications sont les suivantes:

— le titre a été modifié;
— le domaine d’application a été étendu;
— la structure de la norme a été révisée;

— le paragraphe 3.1 a été reformulé de façon à inclure l’huile essentielle contenant une fraction

volumique supérieure à 80 % de 1,8-cinéole, obtenue par distillation à la vapeur du feuillage

d’eucalyptus;

— en 4.1, des modifications mineures ont été apportées concernant l’indice de réfraction

(antérieurement 4.5) et le pouvoir rotatoire (antérieurement 4.6);

— en 4.2, des modifications plus substantielles ont été apportées à certains constituants, principalement

une plus haute limite supérieure pour le 1,8-cinéole et l’omission du camphène, du β-pinène, de l’α-

terpinéol et du camphre;

— dans l’Annexe A, le camphène et le camphre ne sont plus mentionnés dans l’identification des pics,

sur les Figures A.1 et A.2.
