1 Scope
This document specifies the procedure for registration of organization identification schemes, and the
requirements for the administration of International Code Designator values, to designate these organization
identification schemes.

4 Identification of the RA
The name, the website and contact details of the registration authority shall be available on the ISO website
at the following address: https:// www .iso .org/ maintenance _agencies .html
5 Responsibilities of the registration authority
5.1 Role of the RA
The RA shall provide the Registration Services by:
— providing the Registration Services described in this document;
— respecting the provisions of the RAA.
5.2 General requirements of the registration authority
The RA shall publish on its website an RA Handbook describing the procedures concerning the provision of
the Registration Services, in conformity with this document and ISO/IEC 6523-1.
The RA Handbook shall describe the procedures to submit the applications for additions and amendments to
the register of organization identification schemes.
The RA shall determine and include in the RA Handbook the appropriate form(s) in which applications shall
be submitted based on the required contents of the register.
The RA shall:
— receive the applications according to the procedures established in the RA Handbook;
— apply the evaluation criteria specified in 5.3;
— process the applications according to the rules specified in 5.4;
— assign ICD values according to 5.5;
— maintain the register, as is specified in Clause 6;
— provide to the committee responsible for this document a copy of the register at least yearly.

5.3 Evaluation criteria to be applied by the registration authority
The RA shall evaluate an application for addition or amendment of an entry in the register of organization
identification schemes against the following criteria:
a) The application has been endorsed by a sponsoring authority (Clause 7).
b) The sponsoring authority indicates that its responsibilities are fulfilled (see 7.2) including evaluation
criteria in 7.3.
c) The application includes sufficient information, as stated in 6.1 a) and b).
d) The application does not require the amendment of an existing entry in the register in the respect of any
items marked by an asterisk (*) in 6.1 a) and c).
e) The application is complete.
5.4 Processing of applications
5.4.1 The RA processes applications from a SA according to the rules detailed below.
a) As soon as practicable, and in any case within 30 days of receipt of an application from a sponsoring
authority (SA) accompanied by the appropriate fee, if any, the RA shall decide whether the application is
acceptable or not and inform the SA dealing with the application of the outcome.
b) An acceptable application shall be progressed into the register of organization identification schemes as
follows:
1) If the application concerns a new organization, identification scheme the RA shall allocate an
International Code Designator (ICD) value in accordance with ISO/IEC 6523-1. Based on the
application and on the measures taken by the RA, a new entry is created for the organization
identification scheme in the register, see 6.1 a) to c).
2) If the application is an amendment to an existing entry, the RA shall record the amendment fo
