Enabling shall use a maintained action, i.e. push to shift to a non-hazardous function.
Hazardous functions (if present) shall not be activated by releasing the shift button. Any hazardous functions shall require the reactivation of the control device. Non-hazardous functions (e.g. permanent triggering or activation of working lamps) may remain active when the shift button is released. Functions with dual assignment shall be clearly marked in accordance with 4.6. The selection device shall be clearly recognizable. 4.7.2 Multiple control functions with mode selector Each CCS may provide more than one operating mode according to the type of machine and its application. (e. g. working mode, rigging mode, maintenance mode). Where a CCS provides several control modes requiring different hazardous functions on the same control it shall be fitted with a mode selector.
NOTE 1 The mode selector can also be used to switch to non-hazardous functions. Where a mode selector is required it shall be a maintained device only, i. e. hold-to-run is not allowed. A maintained device shall require an intentional action to select each mode and the selected mode shall be clearly identifiable and shall correspond to a single operating or control mode.
Indication of the selected operating mode shall be provided and shall be clearly visible to the operator (e. g. by the position of a mode selector, the provision of an indicating light, a visual display). The different modes and the corresponding control device functions shall be clearly marked. Mode selection by itself shall not initiate any machine operation. A separate actuation of the control device shall be required. For each specific operating mode, the relevant safety functions and/or protective measures shall be implemented.
If the function mode selector is changed when an operation is already activated, the function mode shall not change until the operation has finished.
NOTE 2 The mode selector may be located on the remote station, base station or the machine. 4.8 Multiple operator control units The requirements of EN 62745 shall be complied with. If a machine has one or more remote station(s) it shall always be ensured that only one control station is in control of the machine. An indicator which is visible to the operator(s) at all times and that shows which control station is in control of the machine shall be provided at a suitable location. Preferably indicators should be placed at the base station and all remote stations. SIST EN 17067:2019
¶ 500 ms 4.11 Safety functions 4.11.1 Minimum requirements for the performance level The safety functions shall be defined by the manufacturer of the controlled machines.
NOTE Safety functions for the machine within the scope of this document are given in machine specific type-C standards.
Also any additional functions arising from the general risk assessment of the manufacturer are relevant. Performance Level PLr = c and category 3 according EN ISO 13849-1 shall be complied with for the function of the emergency stop and all safety-relevant stops. The CCS and all other safety relevant parts of the control shall correspond at least to PLr = c . 4.11.2 Safety objectives The following safety objectives shall be ensured: — Protection against unintentional movement out of a stop situation; — Safe stop of safety relevant functions; —
Protection against a fault condition causing a hazard. SIST EN 17067:2019
This means that the remote station transmits a “presence signal”. This is important in order to be able to switch off the machine at all times in a hazardous situation. A presence signal shall be present for at least as long as functions are switched in the base station. For two-way communication systems where the data feedback is required for safety-related functions, the link from the base station to the remote station shall always be maintained during operation. Upon interruption of the wireless connection, all safety-related functions and the latched control functions shall be switched off according to 4.9. A re-establishment of communication shall not result in any hazardous movement of the machine, not even if an operating element is already activated at the remote station. A movement may only result after a new command has been initiated by the operator. It shall be ensured that faults in the wireless transmission route or extraneous signals (e.g. when using multiple CCS with the same frequency range do not lead to unwanted work functions. It shall be regarded as a safe encoding of data if the identification characteristic and data are transferred with a hamming distance according EN 62745 during a digital transmission. 4.12 Prevention of unintentional start of a function that would lead to a hazardous movement A minimum Performance Level of PLr = c and category 2 according EN ISO 13849-1 shall be complied with for the machine functions. NOTE The level of risk associated with a particular hazard can require the manufacturer of the machine to specify a higher PLr to be provided by the CCS. 4.13 Environment requirements 4.13.1 Temperature range according to EN 60068-2-14 and EN 60068-2-1 As a minimum the CCS shall comply with the requirements of this document within the temperature range from
« t r

¹Cä NOTE For operation outside this temperature range additional requirements may be necessary. 4.13.2 Mechanical strength according to EN 60068-2-31 Knocks and impacts acting on the CCS typically resulting during a fall test according to EN 60068-2-31 of the device shall not trigger any work functions. The access to all construction elements not required for the operation, apart from batteries/accumulators, shall require the use of tools. 4.13.3 IP protection class according to EN 60529 At least a protection class according to IP65 is required for the remote stations. Base stations that are not intended for use in the open air (e.g. as installation in vehicle cabs) shall exhibit a protection class according to IP54, and base stations that are used in the open air shall exhibit a protection class according to IP65. 4.13.4 Requirements for the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) The requirements according to EN ISO 14982 shall be complied with.
