Earth-moving machinery - Braking systems of rubber-tyred machines - Systems and performance requirements and test procedures (ISO 3450:1996)

Specifies minimum performance and test criteria for brake systems to enable uniform assessment of the braking capability of earth-moving machinery which operates on work sites or travels on public roads. Service secondary, and parking brake systems , and retarders are covered by this standard. This standard applies to self-propelled, rubber-tyred loaders, tractors, graders, backhoe loaders, tractor-scrapers, excavators and dumpers as defined in ISO 6165.

Diese Internationale Norm gilt für selbstfahrende, gummibereifte Lader, Planiermaschinen, Grader, Bagger-lader, Scraper, Bagger und Muldenfahrzeuge, wie in ISO 6165 definiert.

La présente Norme internationale prescrit les performances minimales et les critères d'essai des dispositifs de freinage, de façon à permettre une évaluation uniforme de la capacité de freinage des engins de terrassement qui travaillent sur site ou se déplacent sur la voie publique. Les dispositifs de freinage de service, de secours et de stationnement sont couverts par la présente Norme internationale, ainsi que les ralentisseurs. La présente Norme internationale est applicable aux chargeuses, tracteurs, niveleuses, chargeuses-pelleteuses, décapeuses, pelles et tombereaux automoteurs sur pneumatiques tels que définis dans l'ISO 6165.

Foreword
The text of ISO 3450:1996 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 127 “Earth-moving machinery”
of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 3450:2008 by
Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 “Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by February 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn
at the latest by December 2009.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 3450:1996.
