Sets out rules intended to enable editors and publishers to present periodicals in a form which will facilitate their use. Following these rules should help editors and publishers to bring order and clarity to their own work. These requirements are of varying importance and some may go against certain artistic, technical or advertising considerations.

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation
of national Standards institutes (ISO member bodies). The work of developing
International Standards is carried out through ISO technical committees. Every
member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been set
up has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations,
governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated
to the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International
Standards by the ISO Council.

NACIONALNI UVOD
Standard SIST ISO 8 (sl), Dokumentacija – Oblikovanje periodičnih publikacij, 1996, ima status
slovenskega standarda in je istoveten mednarodnemu standardu ISO 8 (en), Documentation –
Presentation of periodicals, prva izdaja, 1977-09-15.
NACIONALNI PREDGOVOR
Mednarodni standard ISO 8:1977 je pripravil tehnični odbor Mednarodne organizacije za
standardizacijo ISO/TC 46 Informatika in dokumentacija. Slovenski standard SIST ISO 8:1996 je
prevod mednarodnega standarda ISO 8:1977. Slovenski standard SIST ISO 8:1996 je pripravil
tehnični odbor SIST/TC IDO Informatika in dokumentacija (sedaj SIST/TC IDT Informatika,
dokumentacija in splošna terminologija). V primeru spora glede besedila slovenskega prevoda je
odločilen izvirni mednarodni standard v angleškem jeziku.
Tehnični odbor Informatika, dokumentacija in splošna terminologija se strinja z besedilom privzetega
mednarodnega standarda, le pri točki 12.5 ima pripombo, da pod kazali vsebine v več jezikih razume
ločena kazala v različnih jezikih.
Zaradi dolgega časovnega presledka med izidom mednarodnega in slovenskega standarda je treba
upoštevati med tem nastale spremembe:
– mednarodni standard brez oznake, naveden v točki 3.4, je ISO 6357;
– mednarodni standard ISO 30, naveden v točki 4.4, je bil razveljavljen, zato prvega odstavka te
točke ni mogoče upoštevati;
– mednarodni standard ISO 2014, naveden v točki 7.4, je bil razveljavljen in nadomeščen z
mednarodnim standardom ISO 8601;
– priporočilo ISO/R 215, navedeno v točki 11, je bilo razveljavljeno in nadomeščeno z
mednarodnim standardom ISO 215;
– priporočilo ISO/R 18, navedeno v točki 12.1, je bilo razveljavljeno in nadomeščeno z
mednarodnim standardom ISO 18.
Odločitev za izdajo tega standarda je dne 25. januarja 1996 sprejel SIST/TC IDO Informatika in
dokumentacija.

– Povsod, kjer se v besedilu standarda uporablja izraz “mednarodni standard”, v SIST ISO 8:1996
to pomeni “slovenski standard”.

1 Predmet standarda in področje uporabe
Ta mednarodni standard postavlja pravila, ki naj urednike in založnike usposobijo za oblikovanje
periodičnih publikacij v obliki, ki bo olajšala njihovo uporabo; upoštevanje teh pravil bi jim omogočalo
bolj sistematično in preglednejše delo. Te zahteve so glede na namen različno pomembne, nekatere
od njih so zato lahko v nasprotju z določenimi gledanji umetniške, tehnične ali oglaševalske narave.

3 Naslov periodične publikacije
3.1 Naslov mora biti, kolikor je mogoče, kratek in lahek za navajanje. Po uporabljenih znakih ali tisku
se mora nedvoumno razlikovati od vseh spremljajočih podrobnosti. Oglasi in ilustracije ne smejo
zastreti naslova ali drugih bibliografskih informacij, tiskanih na platnicah.
3.2 Naslov naj čim natančneje opredeli posebno področje znanja in dejavnosti, ki jih obravnava
publikacija. Če je naslov zapisan z okrajšavo, mora biti njen pomen izpisan tudi s polno obliko, da je ni
mogoče zamenjati z dejanskim naslovom.

3.3 Če iz naslova ni razviden pomen, na primer, če ga sestavljajo začetnice ali besede v obliki
začetnic, mora biti tematika publikacije pojasnjena s podnaslovom, ki naj sledi naslovu, kar mora biti
jasno razvidno iz razporeditve besedila.
3.4 Naslov mora biti podan v isti obliki, kjerkoli se pojavlja. Naslov mora biti popolnoma enak na
sprednji platnici, na prvi strani besedila ali na strani s kazalom vsebine in pri drugih kazalih. V skladu z
ISO … je lahko na hrbtu vsake številke.
V vseh drugih primerih, na primer pri živi pagini, je lahko naslov krajšan v skladu z mednarodnimi
pravili za krajšanje naslovov periodičnih publikacij (glej ISO 4).
3.5 Če je treba naslov spremeniti, mora biti to narejeno na začetku nove številke.
Prejšnji naslov je treba navajati na publikaciji še najmanj leto dni po spremembi.
3.6 Naslovi v več jezikih (vzporedni naslovi) so dopustni z enakovrednim priznavanjem pomembnosti
vsakega od njih tako za periodične publikacije, v katerih so vsa besedila objavljena v različnih jezikih
vzporednih naslovov, kakor tudi za periodične publikacije, v katerih se za objavljanje člankov
(uredniško) določi uporaba enega samega ali kateregakoli od jezikov vzporednih naslovov.
Vrstni red naslovov se od številke do številke periodične publikacije ne sme spreminjati.
4 Številka periodične publikacije
4.1 Vse številke (snopiči) periodične publikacije morajo biti obrezane na enako velikost, po možnosti
formata ISO A (glej ISO 216). Če je format nujno treba spremeniti, se to izvede na začetku novega
volumna (letnika).
4.2 Na sprednji platnici in v glavi kazala vsebine vsake številke morajo biti vidno natisnjeni naslov
publikacije, številka volumna (ki mu po potrebi sledi številka sekcije ali serije), številka posamezne
številke periodične publikacije, mednarodna standardna številka serijske publikacije (ISSN)

(glej ISO 3297) in datum izida.
4.3 Navedene morajo biti podrobnosti o izhajanju, ime in naslov za distributerja, višina naročnine,
cena posamezne številke, pogostnost izhajanja ter vse druge pomembne informacije in morebitne
spremembe.
Te informacije morajo biti zbrane v vsaki številki na istem mestu.
4.4 Razen podatkov o izhajanju, natisnjenih na sprednji platnici in na vrhu strani s kazalom vsebine,
mora biti na teh dveh straneh tudi bibliografska identifikacija, kot je opisana v ISO 30.
Če je smiselno, se lahko ti podatki natisnejo v publikaciji še na drugih mestih.
4.5 Če določena številka periodične publikacije vsebuje kazalo volumna, mora biti to navedeno na
platnici.
4.6 Če je mogoče natisniti naslov periodične publikacije na hrbtu vsake številke, mora biti naslov natisnjen
povprek ali vzdolž hrbta tako, da ga je mogoče prebrati brez težav, kadar leži s sprednjo platnico navzgor.
Poleg naslova je treba navesti tudi številko, število strani in datum izida številke periodične publikacije.
5 Številčenje
5.1 Številke, ki sestavljajo en volumen, morajo imeti svoje zaporedje številčenja. Prva številka
volumna mora vedno imeti številko 1, naprej pa morajo številke teči v neprekinjenem zaporedju.

5.2 Če je številčenje kakorkoli prekinjeno, mora biti to navedeno na vidnem mestu v naslednji številki
periodične publikacije (trajanje prekinitve, številka volumna, številka in datum zadnje objavljene številke).
5.3 Vsaka posamezna številka periodične publikacije ima lahko samo eno številko, razen če je treba
več posameznih številk združiti v eno fizično enoto.

5.4 Ker se lahko pri vsakem časopisu letno spremeni obseg njegovih številk, je priporočljivo, da se za
zapisom številke njegove zadnje številke doda opozorilo "konec volumna". Ta navedba mora biti vsaj
pri bibliografski identifikaciji in na zadnji strani besedila.

5.5 Priloge (suplementi) k vsakemu volumnu morajo imeti svoje številke v okviru volumna (primer:
volumen št. ., priloga št. 00) in morajo biti oštevilčene, če jih je več. Neprekinjeno številčenje prilog, ki
se nadaljuje preko več volumnov, se ne sme uporabljati.
Beseda “priloga” ("suplement") mora biti vedno jasno vidna na sprednji platnici, na prvi strani besedila
ali na strani z izvlečki.
5.6 Tudi pri ločeno objavljenih kazalih mora biti na sprednji platnici navedeno "kazalo, priloga k št. .".
6 Volumen (letnik)
6.1 Vsak volumen mora imeti:
– naslovno stran,
– zbirno kazalo vsebine,
– predmetno kazalo ali posebna kazala.
6.2 Številčenje volumna mora teči neprekinjeno, z arabskimi številkami, začetek z volumnom 1.
Rimske številke se ne smejo uporabljati.
6.3 Naslovna stran volumna mora vsebovati naslednje podatke:
– naslov periodične publikacije,
– ime odgovorne organizacije ali odgovornih oseb,
– številko volumna,
– leto ali del leta ali let, ki jih obsega volumen,
– kraj(-e) izida,
– ime in naslov založnika,
– priloge, če obstajajo,
– mednarodno standardno številko serijske publikacije (ISSN).
6.4 V isto leto izhajanja je lahko vključenih več volumnov.
7 Datum
7.1 Leto izhajanja naj se po možnosti ujema s koledarskim letom.
7.2 Leto, v katerem izide volumen, mora biti zapisano z arabskimi številkami.
7.3 Kadar je na sprednji platnici ali na naslovni strani naveden mesec izida, mora biti njegovo ime
izpisano v celoti.

7.4 Kadarkoli je datum napisan v skrajšani obliki, na primer pri bibliografski identifikaciji in na straneh
z besedilom, mora biti napisan v skladu z zahtevami standarda ISO 2014.
8 Razporeditev besedila
8.1 Podobni zvezki morajo biti tiskarsko poenoteni. Zaradi razlikovanja različnih izdaj besedila se
