EN-IEC 60794-1-2 applies to optical fibre cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and to cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors. The object of this standard is to provide the end user with a cross reference table between the second edition of IEC 60794-1-2:2003 and the five new separate parts into which is has now been split up, namely: - IEC 60794-1-2, Cross reference table - IEC 60794-1-20, General and definitions - IEC 60794-1-21, Mechanical tests - IEC 60794-1-22, Environmental tests - IEC 60794-1-23, Cable elements tests - IEC 60794-1-24, Electrical tests.

L'IEC 60794-1-2:2013 s'applique aux câbles à fibres optiques destinés à être utilisés avec les équipements de télécommunication et les dispositifs employant des techniques similaires, et aux câbles constitués d'une combinaison de fibres optiques et de conducteurs électriques. L'objet de la présente norme est de fournir à l'utilisateur final une table des références croisées entre la deuxième édition de CEI 60794-1-2 et la présente troisième édition, qui a été établie après scindement de la CEI 60794-1-2, à savoir:

Foreword The text of document 86A/1475/CDV, future edition 3 of IEC 60794-1-2, prepared by SC 86A, "Fibres and cables", of IEC TC 86, "Fibre optics" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN 60794-1-2:2014. The following dates are fixed: • latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2014-07-18 • latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the document have to be withdrawn (dow) 2016-10-18
This document supersedes partly EN 60794-1-2:2003. This European Standard is to be used in conjunction with EN 60794-1-1. FOREWORD 1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation.
