This document (EN 15947-1:2022) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 212
“Pyrotechnic articles”, the secretariat of which is held by NEN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2023, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by December 2023.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 15947-1:2015.
In comparison with the previous edition EN 15947-1:2015, the following technical modifications have
been made:
— definition of "preliminary effect" was changed to include aural effects;
— definition of "net explosive content", “end closure”, “selection pack” and "primary pack" was changed;
— new terms: "batch", "batch test", "reserve fuse", "sealing paper" and "type test" were added;
— definitions were also updated to be more accurate: debris, preliminary effect, pyro composition,
rocket launcher.
This document has been prepared under a Standardization Request given to CEN by the European
Commission and the European Free Trade Association.

— la définition de l’effet préliminaire a été modifiée pour inclure les effets sonores ;
— les définitions de « masse nette de composition ou masse active », « fermeture », « assortiment » et
« emballage primaire » ont été modifiées ;
— nouveaux termes : « lot », « essai de lot », « mèche de secours », « opercule papier de soie » et « essai
de type » ont été ajoutés ;
— des définitions ont également été mises à jour pour être plus précises : résidu, effet préliminaire,
composition pyrotechnique, dispositif de lancement de fusée.
Le présent document a été élaboré dans le cadre d’un mandat donné au CEN par la Commission
