This document specifies the tests for the verification of restraint systems against the risk of lateral ejection for:
-   counterbalanced lift trucks with centre control, sit down and non-elevating operator position (see EN ISO 3691-1), with a rated capacity up to and including 10 000 kg, hereafter referred to as trucks;
-   tractors as defined in EN 12312-15 (airport ground equipment);
-   Burden carrier tractors with a maximum speed of more than 25 km/h with seated operator as defined in EN ISO 3691-6.
Counterblanced trucks, tractors and burden carriers are named hereafter as trucks.
Note 1   Industrial Tractors as defined in EN ISO 3691-1 do not need a restrain system in general.
This document describes a type test for a specific combination of truck and restraint system.
This standard does not cover:
-   the risk due to frontal ejection;
-   the monitoring of the protective position of the operator restraint system as defined in EN 16307-1:2013+A1:2015, 4.17;
-   the testing of seat belts.
Note 2   The testing of sealt belts is covered by ISO 24135-1.
The document is not applicable for the retrofit of trucks with restraint systems.
This document does not give any requirements on the need for a restraint system.

Flurförderzeuge - Spezifikationen und Prüfverfahren - Andere Rückhaltesysteme für den Bediener als Beckengurte

Dieses Dokument legt die Prüfungen für die Verifizierung von Rückhaltesystemen gegen das Risiko eines seitlichen Herausschleuderns des Bedieners für folgende Fahrzeuge fest:
- Gegengewichtstapler mit mittig angeordnetem, nicht hebbarem Fahrerplatz zum Sitzen (siehe EN ISO 3691 1:2015, 4.7.8) und einer Nenntragfähigkeit bis zu und einschließlich 10 000 kg;
- Schlepper nach EN 12312 15 (Luftfahrt-Bodengeräte);
- Lasten- und Personentransportfahrzeuge (nach ISO 5053 1:2015, 3.25) mit einer maximalen Geschwindigkeit von mehr als 25 km/h mit sitzendem Bediener;
- andere Arten von Flurförderzeugen, die mit einem solchen Rückhaltesystem ausgestattet sind.
Gegengewichtstapler, Schlepper sowie Lasten- und Personentransportfahrzeuge werden nachfolgend als Flurförderzeuge bezeichnet.
ANMERKUNG 1 Schlepper nach ISO 5053 1  benötigen im Allgemeinen kein Rückhaltesystem.
Diese Norm beschreibt Typprüfungen für eine spezielle Kombination aus Flurförderzeug und Rückhaltesystem.
Diese Norm deckt Folgendes nicht ab:
- das Risiko aufgrund des Herausschleuderns nach vorne;
- die Überwachung der schützenden Stellung des Fahrerrückhaltesystems nach EN 16307 1: — , 4.16;
- die Prüfung von Sitzgurten.
ANMERKUNG 2 Die Prüfung von Sitzgurten wird in ISO 24135 1 behandelt.
Die Norm ist nicht anwendbar für die Nachrüstung von Flurförderzeugen mit Rückhaltesystemen.
Diese Norm enthält keine Anforderungen für die Notwendigkeit eines Rückhaltesystems.

Le présent document spécifie les essais pour la vérification des systèmes de retenue contre le risque d’éjection latérale pour :
-   chariots élévateur en porte-à-faux ayant un poste de conduite au centre, une position de l’opérateur assis et non élevable (voir l’EN ISO 3691-1), avec une capacité nominale allant jusqu’à 10 000 kg inclus, ci-après désignés chariots ;
-   tracteurs tels que définis dans l’EN 12312-15 (matériel au sol pour aéronefs) ;
-   tracteurs transporteurs de charges ayant une vitesse maximale supérieure à 25 km/h  avec conducteur assis, tels que définis dans l’EN ISO 3691-6.
Les chariots en porte-à-faux, tracteurs et transporteurs de charges sont ci-après désignés « chariots ».
NOTE 1   Les tracteurs industriels définis dans l’EN ISO 3691-1 n’ont généralement pas besoin d’un système de retenue.
Le présent document décrit un essai de type pour une combinaison spécifique du chariot et du système de retenue.
La présente norme ne couvre pas :
-   le risque dû à une éjection frontale ;
-   la surveillance de la position de protection du système de retenue de l’opérateur telle que définie dans l’EN 16307-1:2013+A1:2015, 4.17 ;
-   les essais des ceintures de sécurité.
NOTE 2   Les essais des ceintures de sécurité sont couverts par l’ISO 24135-1.
Le présent document n’est pas applicable pour le retrofit de chariots ayant des systèmes de retenue.
Le présent document ne donne aucune prescription sur la nécessité d’un système de retenue.

Introduction

This European Standard is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100:2010. This standard has been

prepared to provide one means of conforming to the essential safety requirements of the Machinery

Directive and associated EFTA regulations.

The extent to which hazards are covered is indicated in the scope of this standard.

Current progress in the technical state of the art is leading to improvements in the safety of restraint

systems for industrial truck operators. This standard provides a procedure for verifying the effectiveness

and the robustness of restraint systems, other than lap-type seat belts, to protect truck operator(s)

against the risk of lateral ejection from the protective structure during a lateral tip-over. The procedure

can be used as a type test as well as an individual test.

1 Scope

This document specifies the tests for the verification of restraint systems against the risk of lateral

ejection of the operator for:

— counterbalanced lift trucks with centre control, sit down and non-elevating operator position (see
