Aggregates for concrete

This European Standard specifies the properties of aggregates and filler aggregates obtained by processing natural, manufactured or recycled materials and mixtures of these aggregates for use in concrete.  It covers aggregates having an oven dried particle density greater than 2,00 Mg/m3 (2 000 kg/m3) for all concrete, including concrete in conformity with EN 206-1 and concrete used in roads and other pavements and for use in precast concrete products. It also covers recycled aggregate with densities between 1,50 Mg/m3 (1 500 kg/m3) and 2,00 Mg/m3 (2 000 kg/m3) with appropriate caveats and recycled fine aggregate (4 mm) with appropriate caveats."
It also specifies that a quality control system is in place for use in factory production control and it provides for the evaluation of conformity of the products to this European Standard.
This standard does not cover filler aggregates to be used as a constituent in cement or as other than inert filler aggregates for concrete.
NOTE 1      Aggregates used in construction should comply with all the requirements of this European Standard. As well as familiar and traditional natural and manufactured aggregates Mandate M/125 "Aggregates" included recycled aggregates and some materials from new or unfamiliar sources. Recycled aggregates are included in the standards and new test methods for them are at an advanced stage of preparation. For unfamiliar materials from secondary sources, however, the work on standardisation has only started recently and more time is needed to define clearly the origins and characteristics of these materials. In the meantime such unfamiliar materials when placed on the market as aggregates must comply fully with this standard and national regulations for dangerous substances (see Annex ZA of the standard) depending upon their intended use. Sie legt auch ein System zur Qualitätssicherung für die Anwendung in der werkseigenen Produktionskontrolle fest, und sie ist für den Nachweis der Konformität der Produkte mit dieser Europäischen Norm vorgesehen.
Diese Norm deckt keine Füller (Gesteinsmehle) ab, die zur Verwendung als Bestandteil von Zement oder als andere als inerte Füller (Gesteinsmehle) für Beton vorgesehen sind.
!ANMERKUNG 1    Gesteinskörnungen für das Bauwesen sollten sämtlichen Anforderungen dieser Europäischen Norm genügen. Neben den bekannten und traditionellen natürlichen und hergestellten Gesteinskörnungen sind rezyklierte Gesteinskörnungen sowie einige Rohstoffe aus Vorkommen, über die noch keine oder nur wenige Erfahrungen vorliegen, im Mandat M/125 „Gesteinskörnungen“ aufgeführt. Rezyklierte Gesteinskörnungen sind in den Normen enthalten und die entsprechenden neuen Prüfverfahren werden bald vorliegen. Mit den Normungsarbeiten für Sekundärrohstoffe, zu denen nur wenige Erfahrungen vorliegen, wurde jedoch erst vor kurzer Zeit begonnen. Mehr Zeit wird benötigt, um die Herkunft und die Eigenschaften dieser Rohstoffe eindeutig festzulegen.

Granulats pour béton

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les caractéristiques des granulats et des fillers élaborés à partir de matériaux
naturels, artificiels ou recyclés et des mélanges de ces granulats qui sont utilisés dans la fabrication du béton.
Elle s’applique aux granulats dont la masse volumique réelle après séchage est supérieure à 2 Mg/m3 (2 000 kg/m3)
pour tous bétons, y compris les bétons conformes à l’EN 206-1 et les bétons utilisés dans la fabrication des routes et
chaussées ainsi que les granulats entrant dans la composition des produits préfabriqués en béton. !Cela couvre
également les gravillons recyclés de masses volumiques entre 1,50 Mg/m3 (1 500 kg/m3) et 2,00 Mg/m3
(2 000 kg/m3) avec les avertissements appropriés et les sables recyclés (4 mm) avec les avertissements
appropriés.
Elle spécifie également les caractéristiques relatives à un système de maîtrise de la production de granulats et à
l’évaluation de la conformité des produits avec la présente Norme européenne.
La présente norme ne traite pas des fillers utilisés comme composant de ciment ou pour un usage autre que celui de
fillers inertes pour bétons.
NOTE 1 Il convient que les granulats utilisés dans la construction respectent toutes les exigences de la présente Norme
européenne. Le mandat M/125 «Granulats» traite, outre des granulats naturels et artificiels courants et traditionnels, des
granulats recyclés ainsi que de certains matériaux d’origine nouvelle ou moins courante. Les granulats recyclés sont inclus
dans les normes et de nouvelles méthodes d’essai, à un stade avancé d’élaboration, leur sont destinées. Les travaux de
normalisation ne font, en revanche, que commencer pour des matériaux moins courants de source secondaire et davantage

Ta evropski standard določa lastnosti agregatov in polnilnih agregatov, pridobljenih s predelavo naravnih, umetnih ali recikliranih materialov in mešanic teh agregatov, za uporabo v betonu. Obravnava agregate s prostorninsko maso suhih zrn nad 2,0 Mg/m3 (2 000 kg/m3) za vse betone, vključno z betonom, skladnim z EN 206-1, in betonom, ki se uporablja za ceste in druge tlake ter za predizdelane betonske izdelke. 1 Obravnava tudi reciklirani agregat s prostorninsko maso med 1,50 Mg/m3 (1 500 kg/m3) in 2,00 Mg/m3 (2 000 kg/m3) z ustreznimi svarili ter reciklirani drobni agregat (4 mm) z ustreznimi svarili. 1 . V tem času morajo takšni neobičajni materiali pri dajanju na trg glede na njihovo predvideno uporabo v celoti ustrezati temu standardu in nacionalnim predpisom za nevarne snovi (glej dodatek ZA standarda). Od primera do primera in odvisno od izkušenj pri uporabi proizvoda se lahko predpišejo dodatne lastnosti in zahteve ter se opredelijo v posebnih pogodbenih dokumentih.

4 Geometrical requirements
4.1 General

The necessity for testing and declaring all properties specified in this clause shall be limited according to the

particular application at end use or origin of the aggregate. When required, the tests specified in clause 4 shall be

carried out to determine appropriate geometrical properties.

NOTE 1 When the value of a property is required but not defined by specified limits the value should be declared by the

producer as an XX category, e.g., in Table 8 a value of say 55 for the flakiness index corresponds to FI (Declared value).

4.2 Aggregate sizes

All aggregates shall be described in terms of aggregate sizes using the designations d/D except for aggregates added

as fillers which shall be specified as filler aggregate and shall comply with the grading requirements specified in 4.3.

Aggregate sizes shall be specified using a pair of sieve sizes selected from the basic set, or the basic set plus set 1,

or the basic set plus set 2 in Table 1. A combination of sizes from set 1 and set 2 is not permissible.

Aggregate sizes shall have D/d not less than 1,4.

4.3 Grading
4.3.1 General

The grading of the aggregate, when determined in accordance with EN 933-1, shall comply with the requirements of

4.3.1 to 4.3.6 as appropriate to its aggregate size d/D.

NOTE When aggregates of significantly different density are blended caution is necessary to avoid segregation.

When assessing aggregates within a system of factory production control at least 90 % of gradings, taken on

different batches within a maximum period of 6 months, shall fall within the limits specified in 4.3.2 to 4.3.6 for

tolerances on producers’ declared typical gradings.
4.3.2 Coarse aggregates

All coarse aggregates shall comply with the general grading requirements specified in Table 2 appropriate to their

size designation d/D and the selected categories from Table 2.

Where the sieves calculated are not exact sieve numbers in the ISO 565:1990 R 20 series then the next

nearest sieve size shall be adopted.

For gap graded concrete or other special uses additional requirements may be specified.

The percentage passing D may be greater than 99 % by mass but in such cases the producer shall

document and declare the typical grading including the sieves D, d, d/2 and sieves in the basic set plus set

1 or basic set plus set 2 intermediate between d and D. Sieves with a ratio less than 1,4 times the next

lower sieve may be excluded.
Other aggregate product standards have different requirements for categories.
For graded coarse aggregates where:
a) D > 11,2 mm and D/d > 2; or
b) D ≤ 11,2 mm and D/d > 4,

the following additional requirements (i) and (ii) shall apply for the percentage passing the mid-size sieve:

i) all gradings shall comply with the overall limits given in Table 3;

ii) the producer shall document and, on request, declare the typical grading passing the mid-size sieve and

tolerances selected from the categories in Table 3.

Where the mid-size sieve calculated as above is not an exact sieve size in the ISO 565:1990/R20

series then the nearest sieve in the series shall be used.

NOTE Overall limits and tolerances for the most common product sizes are illustrated in annex A.

For single size coarse aggregates where:
a) D > 11,2 mm and D/d ≤ 2; or
b) D ≤ 11,2 mm and D/d ≤ 4,
there shall be no requirements additional to those specified in Table 2.
4.3.3 Fine aggregate

Fine aggregates shall comply with the general grading requirements specified in Table 2 appropriate to their upper

sieve size D.

The following additional requirements shall be applied to control the variability of the fine aggregate.

The producer shall document and, on request, declare the typical grading for each fine aggregate size produced.

Typical grading is expressed as the percentage by mass of aggregate passing through the sieve sizes specified in

Table 4.

NOTE Recommendations for the classification of coarseness of the fine aggregate are given in annex B (Tables B.1

and B.2)

Fine aggregates in regular satisfactory use for most applications shall comply with the requirements specified in

Table 4. When specified for special uses and cases where the variability of grading is reduced, the grading

tolerances shall be applied in accordance with annex C.

4.3.4 Natural graded 0/8 mm aggregate

Natural graded 0/8 mm aggregate shall comply with the general grading requirements specified in Table 2.

The following additional requirements shall be applied to control the variability of natural graded 0/8 mm aggregate:

a) the producer shall document and, on request, declare the typical grading for each aggregate produced;

b) gradings shall comply with the tolerances given in Table 5.

All-in aggregate shall be supplied as a mixture of coarse and fine aggregate with D ≤ 45 mm and d = 0 and shall

comply with the general grading requirements for the category selected from Table 2.

All-in aggregates shall also comply with the requirements for the percentage passing the two intermediate sieves

specified in Table 6 appropriate to their aggregate size.

Standard SIST EN 12620:2002+A1 (sl), Agregati za beton, 2008, ima status slovenskega standarda in

je istoveten evropskemu standardu EN 12620:2002+A1 (en, de, fr), Aggregates for concrete, 2008.

Standard SIST EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 nadomešča SIST EN 12620:2002.
NACIONALNI PREDGOVOR

Evropski standard EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 je pripravil tehnični odbor Evropskega komiteja za

standardizacijo CEN/TC 154 Agregati. Slovenski standard SIST EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 je prevod

evropskega standarda EN 12620:2002+A1:2008. V primeru spora glede besedila slovenskega

prevoda v tem standardu je odločilen izvirni evropski standard v enem izmed treh uradnih jezikov

CEN. Slovensko izdajo standarda je pripravil tehnični odbor SIST/TC AGR Agregati.

Odločitev za izdajo tega standarda je dne 20. marca 2008 sprejel SIST/TC AGR Agregati.

Ta dokument (EN 12620:2002+A1:2008) je pripravil tehnični odbor CEN/TC 154 Agregati, katerega

sekretariat vodi BSI.

Ta evropski standard mora dobiti status nacionalnega standarda z objavo istovetnega besedila ali z

razglasitvijo najpozneje do oktobra 2008. Nacionalne standarde, ki so v nasprotju s tem standardom,

1 Področje uporabe

Ta evropski standard določa lastnosti agregatov in polnilnih agregatov, pridobljenih s predelavo

naravnih, umetnih ali recikliranih materialov in mešanic teh agregatov, za uporabo v betonu.

Obravnava agregate s prostorninsko maso suhih zrn nad 2,0 Mg/m (2 000 kg/m ) za vse betone,

vključno z betonom, skladnim z EN 206-1, in betonom, ki se uporablja za ceste in druge tlake ter za

predizdelane betonske izdelke. 1 Obravnava tudi reciklirani agregat s prostorninsko maso med 1,50

Mg/m (1 500 kg/m ) in 2,00 Mg/m (2 000 kg/m ) z ustreznimi svarili ter reciklirani drobni agregat

Določa tudi, da mora biti za potrebe kontrole proizvodnje v obratu vpeljan sistem kontrole kakovosti, in

predpisuje vrednotenje skladnosti proizvodov s tem evropskim standardom.

Ta standard ne zajema polnilnih agregatov, ki se uporabljajo kot dodatek k cementu, ter tudi ne tistih,

ki se uporabljajo v kakršne koli druge namene, razen kot inertni polnilni agregati za beton.

OPOMBA 1: Agregati, ki se uporabljajo pri gradnji, naj ustrezajo vsem zahtevam tega evropskega standarda. Mandat

agregate ter nekatere materiale iz novih in neobičajnih virov. Reciklirani agregati so vključeni v standarde,

priprava novih preskusnih metod zanje je v zaključni fazi. Za neobičajne materiale iz sekundarnih virov pa

se je delo pri standardiziranju začelo šele pred kratkim in bo potrebnega več časa, da se jasno opredelijo

viri ter lastnosti teh materialov. V tem času morajo takšni neobičajni materiali pri dajanju na trg glede na

njihovo predvideno uporabo v celoti ustrezati temu standardu in nacionalnim predpisom za nevarne snovi

(glej dodatek ZA standarda). Od primera do primera in odvisno od izkušenj pri uporabi proizvoda se lahko

predpišejo dodatne lastnosti in zahteve ter se opredelijo v posebnih pogodbenih dokumentih.

4 Geometrijske zahteve
4.1 Splošno

Katere od lastnosti, navedenih v tej točki, je treba preskusiti in deklarirati, je odvisno od predvidenega

načina končne uporabe ali izvora agregata. Kadar se zahteva, je treba za določitev ustreznih

geometričnih lastnosti izvesti preskuse, predpisane v točki 4.

OPOMBA 1: Kadar je vrednost neke lastnosti zahtevana, ni pa opredeljena s predpisanimi mejnimi vrednostmi, naj

proizvajalec to vrednost deklarira kot kategorijo XX ; npr. vrednost modula s ploščatostjo 55 v preglednici

4.2 Velikosti agregata

Vse agregate je treba označiti z velikostjo agregata, za kar se uporablja oznaka d/D. Izvzeti so

agregati, ki se dodajajo kot polnilo. Te je treba označiti kot polnilni agregat in morajo izpolnjevati

zahteve za zrnavost, predpisane v 4.3.

Velikosti agregata je treba predpisovati s pomočjo dveh velikosti sit iz preglednice 1, ki se izbereta iz

osnovnega stavka ali iz osnovnega in 1. stavka ali iz osnovnega in 2. stavka. Kombinacija velikosti sit

iz 1. in 2. stavka ni dovoljena.
Razmerje D/d pri označitvi velikosti agregata ne sme biti manjše od 1,4.

4.3 Zrnavost
4.3.1 Splošno

Zrnavost agregata, določena po EN 933-1, mora biti skladna z zahtevami iz 4.3.1 do 4.3.6 glede na

velikost agregata d/D.

OPOMBA: Kadar se mešajo agregati z izrazito različno prostorninsko maso, je treba paziti, da ne pride do segregacije.

Pri ocenjevanju agregatov v sistemu kontrole proizvodnje v obratu mora biti najmanj 90 % zrnavosti,

ugotovljenih za različne šarže v obdobju največ 6 mesecev, v mejah, predpisanih v 4.3.2 do 4.3.6 za

dovoljena odstopanja od proizvajalčevih deklariranih tipičnih zrnavosti.
4.3.2 Grobi agregati

Vsi grobi agregati morajo biti skladni s splošnimi zahtevami za zrnavost, predpisanimi v preglednici 2,

in ustrezati njihovi označeni velikost d/D in izbrani kategoriji iz preglednice 2.

Kadar izračunana sita niso točno enaka številkam sit iz serije R 20 po ISO 565, je treba upoštevati naslednjo najbližjo

velikost sita.

Za betone z nezvezno zrnavostjo ali za druge posebne namene se lahko predpišejo dodatne zahteve.

Presevek pri D je lahko večji od 99 masnih odstotkov, vendar mora v takšnih primerih proizvajalec dokumentirati in

deklarirati tipično zrnavost in pri tem vključiti sita D, d in d/2 ter sita med d in D iz osnovnega in 1. stavka ali iz osnovnega in

2. stavka. Sita, ki niso vsaj 1,4-krat večja od najbližjega spodnjega sita, se lahko izvzamejo.

Zahteve za kategorije v drugih produktnih standardih za agregat so različne.
Za grobi agregat z zvezno zrnavostjo, kjer sta:
a) D > 11,2 mm in D/d > 2 ali
b) D ≤ 11,2 mm in D/d > 4,
veljata za presevek na sredinskem situ naslednji dodatni zahtevi (i) in (ii):
i) vse zrnavosti morajo ustrezati absolutnim mejam, navedenim v preglednici 3;

ii) proizvajalec mora dokumentirati in na zahtevo deklarirati tipični presevek na sredinskem situ in

dovoljeno odstopanje za izbrano kategor
