Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures - Definitions, requirements, quality control and evaluation of conformity - Part 4: Structural bonding
This Part 4 of EN 1504 specifies requirements for the identification, performance (including durability) and safety of structural bonding products and systems to be used for the structural bonding of strengthening materials to an existing concrete structure, including:
1) The bonding of external plates of steel or other suitable materials (e.g. fibre reinforced composites) to the surface of a concrete structure for strengthening purposes, including the laminating of plates in such applications.
2) The bonding of hardened concrete to hardened concrete, typically associated with the use of precast units in repair and strengthening.
3) The casting of fresh concrete to hardened concrete using an adhesive bonded joint where it forms a part of the structure and is required to act compositely.
The performance requirements in this Part of this Standard may not be applicable to highly specialised applications in extreme environmental conditions, e.g. cryogenic use, nor do they cover specialised circumstances such as accidental impact, e.g. due to traffic or ice, or earthquake loading where specific performance requirements will apply.

Der vorliegende Teil von EN 1504 legt Anforderungen an die Identifizierung, das Leistungsvermögen (ein-
schließlich Dauerhaftigkeit) und Sicherheit von Produkten und Systemen zum Kleben fest, die zur Herstellung
des Verbundes von Verstärkungsmaterialien mit einem bestehenden Betontragwerk anzuwenden sind, ein-
schließlich:
1) das Kleben von außen liegenden Stahlplatten oder sonstigen geeigneten Werkstoffen (z. B. faser-
verstärkten Verbundstoffen) auf die Oberfläche eines Betontragwerkes für Verstärkungszwecke ein-
schließlich der Überlappung von Platten bei derartigen Anwendungen;
2) das Kleben von Festbeton auf Festbeton, üblicherweise bei der Verwendung von vorgefertigten
Betonteilen für die Instandsetzung und Verstärkung;
3) das Kleben von Frischbeton auf Festbeton mit Hilfe einer Klebefuge, wobei diese durch Verbundwirkung
einen Teil des Tragwerkes bildet.
Die im vorliegenden Teil dieser Norm angegebenen Leistungsanforderungen sind gegebenenfalls nicht auf
hochspezialisierte Anwendungen für extreme Umweltbedingungen, wie z. B. den Einsatz unter Tieftempera-
turbedingungen, anwendbar noch decken sie besondere Umstände wie unvorhersehbare Auswirkungen, z. B.
von Verkehr oder Eis, oder Beanspruchungen durch Erdbeben ab, für die besondere Leistungsanforderungen
gelten.

La présente norme spécifie les exigences relatives à l'identification, aux performances (y compris les aspects durabilité) et à la sécurité des produits et systèmes à utiliser pour le collage structural des matériaux de construction sur une structure en béton. Il faut également prendre en compte la conformité aux réglementations de sécurité destinées à protéger les personnes et l'environnement.

The bonding of external plates to the surface of a concrete structure for strengthening purposes, and the laminating of plates in such applications. An acceptable bond is unlikely to be achieved with stainless steel. 2. Repair method 4.4 is in accordance with ENV 1504-9. The bonding of hardened concrete to hardened concrete, typically associated with the use of precast units or the bonding of fresh concrete to hardened concrete where it forms a significant part of the structure and is required to act compositely. 3. Temperatures may be specified by the producer for the intended use. 4. In this context corrosion protection implies the application of a corrosion inhibiting priming coat to mild steel. 5. Not applicable to injection techniques. 6. At minimum, standard and maximum application temperatures.

5.2 Performance requirements The manufacturer shall undertake initial performance tests on the product in accordance with Table 3.1 (bonding agents for bonded plate reinforcement) or Table 3.2 (bonding agents for bonded mortar or concrete) and the product shall comply with the requirements.
