This European Standard describes a reflection method for the ultrasonic testing of H beams with parallel flanges and IPE beams for the detection of presence of internal discontinuities. Mechanised, semi-automatic or automatic techniques may be used but should be agreed between the purchaser and the supplier.

Part 5 of this document, in addition to part 1, specifies requirements for flat and long products of hot rolled steels with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance in the grades and qualities given in Tables 2 and 3 (chemical composition) and Tables 4 and 5 (mechanical properties) in the usual delivery conditions as given in 6.3.
The thicknesses in which products of the steel grades and qualities specified in this document may be supplied are given in Table 1.
In addition to EN 10025-1:2004 the steels specified in this document are especially intended for use in welded, bolted and riveted components which shall have enhanced resistance to atmospheric corrosion, for service at ambient temperatures (subject to the restrictions described in 7.4.1).
The steels specified in this Part 5 are not intended to be heat treated except products delivered in the delivery condition +N. Stress relief annealing is permitted (see also the NOTE in 7.3.1.1 of EN 10025-1:2004). Products delivered in +N condition can be hot formed and/or normalized after delivery (see Clause 3).

This European Standard describes a method for the ultrasonic-testing of uncoated flat austenitic and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel product for internal discontinuities. It is applicable to flat product in nominal thickness range of 6 mm to 200 mm. Mechanised, semi-automatic or automatic techniques may be used but should be agreed between the purchaser and the supplier.
This standard also defines 3 quality classes for the flat product body (classes S1, S2 and S3) and 4 quality classes (E1, E2, E3, E4) for the edges in accordance with the criteria specified in clause 12.
Other methods of testing, e.g. by transmission technique or other test equipments may be used at the manufacturer's discretion provided that they give equivalent results to those obtained under the conditions of this standard. In the event of a dispute, only the method defined in this standard prevails.
Testing of flat product of thickness less than 6 mm may be the subject of special agreements between the parties concerned.

This European Standard describes a method for the ultrasonic testing of uncoatedflat steel product for internal discontinuities. It is applicable to flat product in nominal thickness range of 6 mm to 200 mm of non-alloyed or alloyed steel, excluding austenitic or austenoferritic steels. However, this standard may be applied to the latter types of steels provided that the difference between the amplitude of the noise signal and that of the echo detection threshold is sufficient for the limit fixed.

ISO 2639 defines the case-hardened depth, and specifies methods for the determination of this depth, in steel.
It is applicable to
carburized cases and carbonitrided cases;parts that, when heat treated to final hardness, have a hardness of less than 450 HV 1 at a distance of three times the case-hardened depth, from the surface.
The case-hardened depth is defined by special agreement where these conditions are not met.

ISO 643 specifies a micrographic method of determining apparent ferritic or austenitic grain size in steels. It describes the methods of revealing grain boundaries and of estimating the mean grain size of specimens with unimodal size distribution.
Although grains are three-dimensional in shape, the metallographic sectioning plane can cut through a grain at any point from a grain corner, to the maximum diameter of the grain, thus producing a range of apparent grain sizes on the two-dimensional plane, even in a sample with a perfectly consistent grain size.
