IEC 61158-4-2:2014 specifies procedures for the timely transfer of data and control information from one data-link user entity to a peer user entity, and among the data-link entities forming the distributed data-link service provider and the structure of the fieldbus DLPDUs used for the transfer of data and control information by the protocol of this standard, and their representation as physical interface data units. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2010 and constitutes a technical revision. The main changes are:
- Addition of conventions in 3.6;
- Updates of ControlNet object in 7.2;
- Addition of missing V/NV attribute characteristic in 7.5, 7.6, 7.7;
- Extensions and clarifications of TCP/IP interface object in 7.5;
- Extensions and clarifications of Ethernet Link object in 7.6;
- Extensions and clarifications of CCO object in 7.8;
- Extensions and updates of DLR object in 7.9;
- Updates of QoS object in 7.10;
- Addition of Port object in 7.11;
- Updates to DL state machines in 8.1 and 9.2;
- Extensions and updates of DLR protocol in Clause 10;
- Update of indicator behavior in A.2.2 and A.2.3.

L'IEC 61158-4-2:2014 spécifie les procédures pour le transfert en temps utile de données et d'informations de commande d'une entité d'utilisateur de liaison de données vers une entité d'utilisateur homologue, et parmi les entités de liaison de données formant le fournisseur de service de liaison de données distribué et la structure des DLPDU du bus de terrain utilisée pour le transfert de données et d'informations de commande par le protocole de la présente norme, et leur représentation comme unités de données d'interface physique. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition, parue en 2010. Elle constitue une révision technique. Les modification sont:
- Addition de conventions en 3.6;
- Mises à jour de l'objet ControlNet en 7.2;
- Addition de caractéristique d'attribut V/NV manquante en 7.5, 7.6 et 7.7;
- Extensions et clarifications de l'objet d'interface TCP/IP en 7.5;
- Extensions et clarifications de l'objet Ethernet Link en 7.6;
- Extensions et clarifications de l'objet CCO en 7.8;
- Extensions et mises à jour de l'objet DLR en 7.9;
- Mises à jour de l'objet QoS en 7.10;
- Addition de l'objet de port en 7.11;
- Mises à jour des diagrammes d'états DL en 8.1 et en 9.2;
- Extensions et mises à jour du protocole DLR à l'Article 10;
- Mise à jour du comportement des indicateurs en A.2.2 et A.2.3.

IEC 61158-4-2:2014 določa postopke za pravočasni prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru od ene uporabniške entitete s podatkovno povezavo do entitete uporabniškega vrstnika ter med entitetami s podatkovno povezavo, ki tvorijo ponudnika storitev porazdeljenih podatkovnih povezav, ter strukturo DLPDU procesnih vodil, ki se uporabljajo za prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru s protokolom tega standarda, in njihovo zastopanost kot fizični vmesnik podatkovnih enot. Ta tretja izdaja razveljavlja in nadomešča drugo izdajo, objavljeno leta 2010, in predstavlja tehnično popravljeno izdajo. Glavne spremembe so:
– dodatek dogovorov v 3.6;
– posodobitve predmeta ControlNet v 7.2;
– dodatek manjkajoče lastnosti atributa V/NV v 7.5, 7.6, 7.7;
– razširitve in pojasnila objekta vmesnika TCP/IP v 7.5;
– razširitve in pojasnila objekta Ethernet Link v 7.6;
– razširitve in pojasnila objekta CCO v 7.8;
– razširitve in posodobitve objekta DLR v 7.9;
– posodobitve predmeta QoS v 7.10;
– dodatek predmeta Port v 7.11;
– posodobitve strojev za stanje podatkovne povezave v 8.1 in 9.2;
– razširitve in posodobitve protokola DLR v točki 10;
– posodobitve vedenja indikatorjev v A.2.2 in A.2.3.
