Plastics piping systems for the supply of gaseous fuels - Polyethylene (PE) - Part 5: Fitness for purpose of the system
This part of EN 1555 specifies requirements of fitness for purpose of the polyethylene (PE) piping system in the field of the supply of gaseous fuels.
It specifies the definitions of electrofusion, butt fusion and mechanical joints.
It specifies the method of preparation of test piece joints, and the tests to be carried out on these joints for assessing the fitness for purpose of the system under normal and extreme conditions.
It specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document.
NOTE 1 This document is intended only to be used by the product manufacturer to assess the performance of components according to EN 1555-2, EN 1555-3, and/or EN 1555-4 when joined together under normal and extreme conditions in accordance with this document. It is not intended for on-site testing of pipe systems.
In conjunction with Parts 1 to 4 of EN 1555, it is applicable to PE pipes, fittings, valves, their joints and to joints with components of other materials intended to be used under the following conditions:
a) a maximum operating pressure, MOP, up to and including 10 bar ;
b) an operating temperature of 20 °C as reference temperature.
NOTE 2 For other operating temperatures, derating coefficients can be used, see Annex A.
EN 1555 (all parts) covers a range of maximum operating pressures and gives requirements concerning colours and additives.
NOTE 3 It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen an die Gebrauchstauglichkeit des Rohrleitungssystems aus Polyethylen (PE) im Bereich der Versorgung mit gasförmigen Brennstoffen fest.
Es legt die Begriffe für Heizwendelschweißverbindungen, Stumpfschweißverbindungen und mechanische Verbindungen fest.
Es legt das Verfahren für die Vorbereitung der Verbindungen von Probekörpern sowie die Prüfungen, die an diesen Verbindungen für die Beurteilung der Gebrauchstauglichkeit des Systems unter üblichen Bedingungen sowie unter extremen Bedingungen durchzuführen sind, fest.
Es legt die Prüfparameter für die Prüfverfahren fest, auf die in diesem Dokument verwiesen wird.
ANMERKUNG 1 Dieses Dokument ist ausschließlich dafür vorgesehen, vom Produkthersteller zur Bewertung der Leistungsfähigkeit von Rohrleitungsteilen nach EN 1555 2, EN 1555 3 und/oder EN 1555 4, die miteinander unter üblichen Bedingungen und unter extremen Bedingungen nach diesem Dokument verbunden sind, verwendet zu werden. Es ist nicht für die Prüfung von Rohrleitungssystemen auf der Baustelle vorgesehen.
In Verbindung mit Teil 1 bis Teil 4 von EN 1555 gilt es für PE Rohre, Formstücke, Armaturen, deren Verbindungen untereinander sowie mit Rohrleitungsteilen aus anderen Werkstoffen, die für die Verwendung unter den folgenden Bedingungen vorgesehen sind:
a) der maximal zulässige Betriebsdruck MOP (en: maximum operating pressure) beträgt höchstens 10 bar );
b) es gilt eine Betriebstemperatur von 20 °C als Bezugstemperatur.
ANMERKUNG 2 Für andere Betriebstemperaturen können Minderungsfaktoren verwendet werden, siehe Anhang A.
EN 1555 (alle Teile) deckt einen Bereich von maximal zulässigen Betriebsdrücken ab und enthält Anforderungen bezüglich Farben und Zusatzstoffen.
ANMERKUNG 3 Es liegt in der Verantwortung des Auftraggebers oder Planers, aus diesen Gesichtspunkten die geeignete Auswahl zu treffen, unter Berücksichtigung ihrer speziellen Anforderungen und jeglicher maßgebender nationaler Festlegungen und Verfahrensweisen oder Vorschriften für die Verlegung.

Le présent document spécifie les exigences d’aptitude à l’emploi du système de canalisations en polyéthylène (PE) destiné à la distribution de combustibles gazeux.
Il spécifie les définitions des assemblages par électrosoudage, par soudage bout à bout et des assemblages mécaniques.
Il spécifie également la méthode de préparation des assemblages d’éprouvettes, ainsi que les essais à réaliser sur ces assemblages pour évaluer l’aptitude à l’emploi du système dans des conditions normales et extrêmes.
Il spécifie les paramètres d’essai pour les méthodes d’essai référencées dans ce document.
NOTE 1 Ce document est destiné à être utilisé par le fabricant du produit pour évaluer la performance des composants selon l’EN 1555-2, l’EN 1555-3 et/ou l’EN 1555-4 lorsqu’ils sont assemblés dans des conditions normales et extrêmes conformément au présent document. Il n’est pas destiné à être utilisé pour des essais sur site des systèmes de canalisations.
Conjointement avec les Parties 1 à 4 de l’EN 1555, il s’applique aux tubes, raccords et robinets en PE et à leurs assemblages, ainsi qu’aux assemblages avec des composants en d’autres matières destinés à être utilisés dans les conditions suivantes :
a) une pression maximale de service, MOP, jusqu’à et y compris 10 bar ;
b) une température de service de 20 °C comme température de référence.
NOTE 2 Pour d’autres températures de service, des facteurs de réduction peuvent être utilisés ; voir l’Annexe A.
L’EN 1555 (toutes les parties) couvre une gamme de pressions maximales de service et donne les exigences concernant les couleurs et les additifs.

Introduction
This document specifies the requirements of a piping system and its components made from polyethylene
(PE) and which is intended to be used for the supply of gaseous fuels.Requirements and test methods for material and components are specified in prEN 1555-1:2019,
prEN 1555-2:2019, prEN 1555-3:2019 and prEN 1555-4:2019.CEN /TS 1555-7 [1] gives guidance for assessment of conformity. Recommended practice for installation
is given in EN 12007-2:2012 [2] prepared by CEN /TC 234.This part of EN 1555 covers the characteristics of fitness for purpose of the system.

1 Scope
This document specifies requirements of fitness for purpose of the polyethylene (PE) piping system in
the field of the supply of gaseous fuels.It specifies the definitions of electrofusion, butt fusion and mechanical joints.
It specifies the method of preparation of test piece joints, and the tests to be carried out on these joints
for assessing the fitness for purpose of the system under normal and extreme conditions.
It specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document.
