39.040.01 - Horology in general

ISO 10552:2014 specifies designs and dimensions of crowns and sealed tubes and their tolerances. ISO 10552:2014 is applicable to crowns and sealed tubes of mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic wristwatches of water-resistant designs.

ISO 1112:2009 specifies the technical definitions of functional and non-functional horological movement jewels. It describes the different types of jewels used, and how this is to be marked on a timekeeping instrument or used in advertising.

ISO 17514:2004 specifies the test methods for the photoluminescent deposits applied to time-measuring instruments, together with the requirements related to them.

The 20 definitions apply to time-measuring instruments or to related devices. A table summarizes the values and units of measurement associated with the definitions. Part 2 deals with definitions of technico-commercial terms.

Lays down the definition and designations (as a symbol or by words) of test position for any timekeeping instrument, irrespective of its type, design or dimensions.
