This document is applicable to filter media (virgin granular activated carbon, silica sand and silica gravel, pumice, pyrolyized coal material, anthracite and calcium carbonate) used for treatment of swimming pool water. It describes the characteristics of filter media and specifies the requirements and the corresponding test methods for filter media. It gives information on their use in swimming pool water treatment.
This document does not concern powdered diatomaceous earth, perilite, zeolite and similar materials used with filter cartridges.

Dieses Dokument ist anzuwenden für Filtermaterialien (frische granulierte Aktivkohle, Quarzsand und Quarzkies, Bims, thermisch behandelte Kohleprodukte, Anthrazit sowie Calciumcarbonat) zur Aufbereitung von Schwimm- und Badebeckenwasser, mit oder ohne chemische Einwirkung. Es beschreibt die Eigenschaften von Filtermaterialien und legt die Anforderungen sowie die entsprechenden Prüfverfahren für Filtermaterialien fest. Es enthält Angaben zu deren Anwendung in der Aufbereitung von Schwimm- und Badebeckenwasser.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für pulverförmige Kieselgur, Perlit, Zeolith und ähnliche Materialien, die in Filterkartuschen eingesetzt werden.

Le présent document est applicable aux médias filtrants (charbon actif en grains vierge, sable de quartz
et gravier de quartz, pierre ponce, charbon pyrolysé, anthracite et carbonate de calcium) utilisés pour la
filtration de l’eau des piscines, avec ou sans action chimique. Il décrit les caractéristiques et spécifie les
exigences des médias filtrants et les méthodes d’essai correspondantes. Il donne des informations pour
leur emploi dans le traitement de l’eau des piscines.
Le présent document ne s’applique pas à la terre à diatomées en poudre, à la perlite, à la zéolithe et
autres médias filtrants utilisés avec des cartouches filtrantes ou des éléments filtrants similaires.

This document (prEN 15798:2020) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 164 “Water

supply”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 15798:2010.

In comparison with the previous edition, the following technical modifications have been made:

a) modification of 8.3 on transportation regulations and labelling, adding the sentence “The user must

be aware of the incompatibilities between transported products.”;

b) modification of 8.4 on marking. The requirements of marking are also applied to the accompanying

documents;
c) update of bibliography.

1 Scope

swimming pool water. It describes the characteristics of filter media and specifies the requirements and

the corresponding test methods for filter media. It gives information on their use in swimming pool
