ISO/TC 206/WG 8 - Joining
Interface
General Information
This document specifies a test method for determining the flexural bond strength of ceramic/ceramic joints or ceramic/metal joints at room temperature. The substrate materials, for example ceramic or metal, are both monolithic. This method can be used to test the interfacial bond strength of the joint under bending conditions. It can be used for the development of joining materials and/or for the quality control of joints, the characterization and generating design data purposes.

ISO 20407:2017 specifies a test method for determining interfacial tensile/tensile or shear/shear cyclic fatigue properties of ceramic-ceramic, ceramic-metal, and ceramic-glass joining loaded in the constant amplitude at room temperature. Procedures for test piece preparation, test modes and rates (load rate or displacement), data collection and reporting procedures are given. ISO 20407:2017 applies primarily to ceramic materials, including monolithic fine ceramics and whisker-, fibre- or particle-reinforced ceramic composites. This test method can be used for material research, quality control, and characterization and design data-generation purposes.

ISO 17095:2013 specifies the method of test for determining the interfacial tensile and shear bond strength of ceramic-ceramic, ceramic-metal, and ceramic-glass joining at elevated temperature by the compression tests on the cross-bonded test pieces. Methods for test piece preparation, test modes and rates (load rate or displacement rate), data collection, and reporting procedures are addressed. ISO 17095:2013 applies primarily to the ceramic materials, including monolithic fine ceramics and whisker-, fibre- or particulate-reinforced ceramic composites.

ISO 13124:2011 specifies a test method for determining the interfacial tensile and shear bond strength of ceramic-ceramic, ceramic-metal, and ceramic-glass joining at ambient temperature by compression tests on cross-bonded test pieces. Methods for test-piece preparation, test modes and rates (load rate or displacement rate), data collection and reporting procedures are addressed. ISO 13124:2011 applies primarily to ceramic materials, including monolithic fine ceramics and whisker-, fibre- or particulate-reinforced ceramic composites. This test method can be used for materials research, quality control, and characterization and design data generation purposes.
