12 Add the following to the existing Clause 1:

13 “This document covers all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant for

14 machines covered by this document.

15 NOTE Z101 Essential requirements not mentioned in Table ZZ.1 are deemed to be not applicable, because the

16 corresponding hazards are either not relevant for machines covered by this document or do not require specific action

17 by the designer.”
18 2 Modification to Clause 19, “Mechanical hazards”
19 Replace the existing Subclause 19.102.2.1 with the following:

20 “19.102.2.1 The front handle shall be located so that the distance from the nearest cutting edge of the

21 cutter blade to the rear side of any handle, except for Category 1, is not less than 120 mm as shown in

22 Figure 108.

23 For Category 1, the shortest distance between the front of the handle grip and the nearest blade tooth

24 shall be at least 120 mm (see Figure 111). The distances shall be measured along the shortest path from

25 the front of the handle grip to the nearest cutting edge of the cutter blade.

26 For all categories in Table 101, if there is a front hand barrier, then the x and x distances in Figure 108

27 shall be measured along the shortest path from the backside of the handle, via the edge of the front hand

28 barrier, to the nearest cutting edge of the cutter blade. The front hand barrier shall not have any openings

29 with a minor dimension larger than 10 mm.
