Foreword

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards

bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out

through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical

The following paragraph was rephrased by adding "This requirement does not relate to dedicated radio

pockets" at the end, from:

"Where fitted, Pocket flaps shall overlap the pocket opening by no less than 10mm on either side. The

overlap shall be sufficient to prevent the entry of heat and other hot materials into the pocket."

The following paragraphs have been deleted:

"Before each test specified in Clauses 6 and 7, the test materials and test specimens shall be pre-

treated by cleaning. If the manufacturer’s instructions indicate that cleaning is not allowed, i.e. single

use garments, then testing shall be carried out on new material. In addition, limited flame spread and

heat transfer (radiation) shall be carried out in accordance with 6.1 and 6.2 before and after the pre-

treatment.

The cleaning shall be in line with the manufacturer’s instructions, on the basis of standardized

processes. If the number of cleaning cycles is not specified, the tests shall be carried out after five

cleaning cycles (a cleaning cycle is one wash and one dry cycle). This shall be reflected in the information

supplied by the manufacturer.

If cleaning method is not specified the samples shall be subjected to a washing with a normal load in a

front loading horizontal drum machine using non­phosphate reference detergent N°3 in soft water in

accordance with the procedures of ISO 6330 at 60 °C normal wash (6N). The dry procedure shall be F

tumble dry at normal temperature (max 80 °C) measured at the outlet temperature.

L’alinéa suivant a été reformulé avec l’ajout de «Cette exigence ne concerne pas les poches radio

dédiées.» à la fin, si bien que:

côté. Le chevauchement doit être suffisamment étendu de façon à éviter l’entrée de la chaleur ou d’autres

Les alinéas suivants ont été supprimés:

«Avant chaque essai spécifié dans les Articles 6 et 7, les matériaux d’essai et les éprouvettes doivent

faire l’objet d’un prétraitement par nettoyage. Si les instructions du fabricant indiquent que le nettoyage

n’est pas autorisé, c’est-à-dire s’il s’agit de vêtements à usage unique, les essais doivent être réalisés

sur un matériau neuf. En outre, les essais relatifs à la propagation de flamme limitée et au transfert

de chaleur (rayonnement) doivent être réalisés conformément aux dispositions figurant en 6.1 et 6.2,

avant et après le prétraitement.

Le nettoyage doit correspondre aux instructions du fabricant, sur la base de méthodes normalisées.

Si le nombre de cycles de nettoyage n’est pas spécifié, les essais doivent être réalisés au bout de cinq

cycles de nettoyage (un cycle de nettoyage comportant un lavage et un séchage). Cela doit être mis en

évidence dans les informations fournies par le fabricant.

Si la méthode de nettoyage n’est pas spécifiée, les échantillons doivent être soumis à un lavage avec une

charge normale dans une machine à tambour horizontal à chargement frontal en utilisant un détergent

de référence sans phosphate n° 3 dans de l’eau douce conformément à la méthode de l’ISO 6330 à 60 °C,

lavage normal (6N). Le mode de séchage doit être F, séchage en tambour, à la température normale

(max 80 °C) mesurée en sortie.

Si le vêtement peut être lavé et nettoyé à sec, seul le lavage doit être effectué. Si seul le nettoyage à sec

est autorisé, le vêtement doit être nettoyé à sec conformément aux instructions du fabricant.
