ISO 5356-1:2004 specifies dimensional and gauging requirements for cones and sockets intended for connecting anaesthetic and respiratory equipment, e.g. in breathing systems, anaesthetic-gas scavenging systems and vaporizers. ISO 5356-1:2004 gives requirements for the following conical connectors: 8,5 mm sizes intended for use in paediatric breathing systems; 15 mm and 22 mm sizes intended for general use in breathing systems; 22 mm latching connectors (including performance requirements); 23 mm size intended for use with vaporizers, but not for use in breathing systems; 30 mm size intended for the connection of a breathing system to an anaesthetic gas scavenging system. ISO 5356-1:2004 does not specify the medical devices and accessories on which these connections are to be provided. Requirements for the application of conical connectors are not included in ISO 5356-1:2004, but are or will be given in the relevant International Standards for specific medical devices and accessories. NOTE Requirements for screw-threaded weight-bearing conical connectors are specified in ISO 5356-2.

Настоящее третье издание отменяет и заменяет второе издание (ISO 5356-1:1996), которое было

Введение
В клинической практике может понадобиться соединить несколько креплений для дыхательных систем,
используемых в анестезирующем и дыхательном оборудовании, вместе для обеспечения

или спирометр, часто включаются в дыхательную систему, которая также может быть подсоединена к

1 Область применения
Данная часть ISO 5356 определяет требования к размерам и калибровке диффузоров и муфт,
предназначенных для соединения анестезирующего и дыхательного оборудования, например в
дыхательных системах, системах утилизации анестезирующего газа и увлажнителях.
В данной части ISO 5356 даны требования к следующим коническим соединителям:
размером 8,5 мм, предназначенным для использования в детских дыхательных системах;
размером 15 мм и 22 мм, предназначенным для общего использования в дыхательных системах;
защелкивающимся соединителям размером 22 (включая эксплуатационные требования);
размером 23 мм, предназначенным для использования с увлажнителями, но не для использования
с дыхательными системами;
размером 30 мм, предназначенным для подсоединения дыхательных систем к системам
утилизации анестезирующего газа.
Данная часть ISO 5356 не определяет медицинские приборы и приспособления, для которых данные
соединители предназначены.
Требования к применению конических соединителей не включены в данную часть ISO 5356, но даны
или будут даны в соответствующем международном стандарте, определяющем медицинские приборы
и приспособления.

4.1 Общие требования
Размеры конических соединителей, сделанных из металла, включая те, которые сделаны из
композиционного материала, имеющего металлические сопрягаемые поверхности, должны быть
такими, как показано на Рисунках 1 и 2 и в Таблице 1.

4.2 Дополнительные требования к соединителям с внешней резьбой размером 22 мм
4.2.1 Соединители с внешней резьбой размером 22 мм, за исключением тех, которые используются
для соединения с лицевой маской, должны включать выточку, как показано на Рисунке 2 а).
4.2.2 Соединители с внешней резьбой размером 22 мм, предназначенные для прикрепления к
лицевой маске должны включать выступ или эквивалентную конструкцию как показано на Рисунке 2 b).
4.2.3 Если на поверхности соединителя с внешней резьбой размером 22 мм находится круговая
канавка или канавки, общая ширина канавки или канавок на поверхности должна не превышать 8 мм.
Радиус входа в соединитель с внутренней резьбой и на передний край наружной конической
поверхности должен быть не менее 0,5 мм и не более 0,8 мм.

Конические соединители с внешней резьбой должны иметь минимальный внутренний диаметр 6 мм
проходящий внутри как минимум на 6 мм от конца соединителя.

5.1 Общие требования
Конические соединители, сделанные из материалов, отличающихся от металла, должны
удовлетворять следующим требованиям при типичных испытаниях с использованием калибров,
имеющих размеры, как показано на Рисунке А.1 и в Таблице А.1.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO

ISO 5356-1 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 121, Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment,
Subcommittee SC 1, Breathing attachments and anaesthetic machines.
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 5356-1:1996), which has been technically
revised. The major differences are the inclusion of 8,5 mm size connectors and some minor corrections to the
figures and tables.
ISO 5356 consists of the following parts, under the general title Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment —

Introduction
In clinical practice, several breathing attachments used in anaesthetic and respiratory equipment may have to
be joined together to provide a suitable breathing system. Items of medical equipment, such as a humidifier or
a spirometer, are often incorporated into the breathing system which may also be connected to an
anaesthetic-gas scavenging system. Connections for these purposes are usually cone and socket joints, and
a lack of standardization of these connections has given rise to problems of interchangeability when
connecting equipment made by different manufacturers. This part of ISO 5356 specifies the requirements and
dimensions for conical connectors used in anaesthetic and respiratory equipment.
An important consideration is that conical connections need to be secure but nevertheless disconnectable by
the operator. The use of connectors meeting the requirements of this part of ISO 5356 will not necessarily
prevent them being disconnected accidentally. To minimize the risk of 22 mm connectors being accidentally
disconnected, latching connectors can be used.
Annex A includes a figure and a table detailing plug and ring test gauges that are used to check conical
connectors made of materials other than metal. Annexes B, C and D provide test methods for latching
connectors, Annex E includes a figure and table detailing plug and ring test gauges that may be used to check
metal conical connectors, and Annex F contains recommendations for testing security of latching connectors.
Figure 1, detailing the dimensions and tolerances of metal conical connectors, has been prepared in
accordance with ISO 3040.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in ISO 4135 and the following apply.
3.1
22 mm latching connector
female connector for engagement with a male conical connector of 22 mm size complying with this part of
ISO 5356, and which has a feature to reduce the possibility of accidental disconnection

4.1 General requirements
The dimensions of conical connectors made of metal, including those made of composite materials in which
the mating surfaces are metal, shall be as shown in Figures 1 and 2 and Table 1.
NOTE See Annex E for dimensions of plug and ring gauges for the connectors.
4.2 Additional requirements for male conical connectors of 22 mm size
4.2.1 Male conical connectors of 22 mm size, with the exception of those intended for connection to a face
mask, shall incorporate the recess as shown in Figure 2 a).
4.2.2 Male conical connectors of 22 mm size to which it is intended to attach a face mask shall incorporate
a shoulder or equivalent construction as shown in Figure 2 b).
4.2.3 If a circumferential groove or grooves are incorporated in the surface of a male conical connector of

Avant-propos
L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée
aux comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du
comité technique créé à cet effet. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non
gouvernementales, en liaison avec l'ISO participent également aux travaux. L'ISO collabore étroitement avec
la Commission électrotechnique internationale (CEI) en ce qui concerne la normalisation électrotechnique.
Les Normes internationales sont rédigées conformément aux règles données dans les Directives ISO/CEI,

La tâche principale des comités techniques est d'élaborer les Normes internationales. Les projets de Normes

L'ISO 5356-1 a été élaborée par le comité technique ISO/TC 121, Matériel d'anesthésie et de réanimation
respiratoire, sous-comité SC 1, Raccords pour appareils d'anesthésie.
Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition (ISO 5356-1:1996), qui a fait l'objet d'une
révision technique. Les principales différences résident dans la prise en compte de raccords de 8,5 mm de
diamètre et de certaines corrections mineures des figures et des tableaux.
L'ISO 5356 comprend les parties suivantes, présentées sous le titre général Matériel respiratoire et
d'anesthésie — Raccords coniques:

Introduction
Dans la pratique clinique, plusieurs raccords de matériel respiratoire et d'anesthésie peuvent devoir être
assemblés pour constituer un système respiratoire approprié. Des articles de matériel médical, tels qu'un
humidificateur ou un spiromètre, font souvent partie du système respiratoire qui peut aussi être raccordé à un
système d'évacuation de gaz d'anesthésie en excès. Généralement, les pièces de raccordement sont un
raccord mâle et un raccord femelle, et l'absence de normalisation de ces pièces de raccordement a
fréquemment soulevé des problèmes d'interchangeabilité quand un équipement de raccordement est fabriqué
par des constructeurs différents. La présente partie de l'ISO 5356 spécifie les dimensions et exigences
relatives aux raccords coniques utilisés avec le matériel respiratoire et d'anesthésie.
Une considération importante est que les raccordements coniques nécessitent une liaison sûre et néanmoins
facile à désengager par l'opérateur. L'utilisation de raccords répondant aux exigences de la présente partie de
l'ISO 5356 n'empêchera pas nécessairement un désengagement accidentel. Pour réduire le risque de
désengagement accidentel de raccords de 22 mm, il est possible d'utiliser des raccords avec système de
blocage.
L'Annexe A comporte une figure et un tableau détaillés des calibres mâles et femelles qui sont utilisés pour
vérifier les dimensions des raccords coniques en matériaux non métalliques. Les Annexes B, C et D
fournissent des méthodes d'essai pour les raccords avec système de blocage, l'Annexe E comporte une
figure et un tableau détaillés des calibres mâles et femelles qui peuvent être utilisés pour vérifier les
dimensions des raccords coniques en métal, et l'Annexe F contient des recommandations relatives aux essais
de sécurité des raccords avec système de blocage.
La Figure 1, qui montre les dimensions et les tolérances relatives aux raccords coniques en métal, a été
élaborée conformément à l'ISO 3040.

1 Domaine d'application
La présente partie de l'ISO 5356 spécifie les exigences dimensionnelles et les calibres des raccords mâles et
femelles destinés à être raccordés au matériel respiratoire et d'anesthésie, tels que les systèmes respiratoires,
systèmes d'évacuation de gaz d'anesthésie en excès et évaporateurs.
La présente partie de l'ISO 5356 énonce les exigences relatives aux raccords coniques suivants:
raccords de diamètre 8,5 mm pour les systèmes respiratoires en pédiatrie;
raccords de diamètres 15 mm et 22 mm à usage général dans les systèmes respiratoires;
raccords avec système de blocage de diamètre 22 mm (avec exigences de performance);
raccords de diamètre 23 mm destinés à l'emploi avec les évaporateurs, mais non à l'emploi dans les
systèmes respiratoires;
raccords de diamètre 30 mm destinés au raccordement d'un système respiratoire à un système
d'évacuation de gaz d'anesthésie.
La présente partie de l'ISO 5356 ne spécifie pas les appareils médicaux et accessoires auxquels ces
raccordements sont destinés.
Les exigences relatives à l'application des raccords coniques ne sont pas incluses dans la présente partie de
l'ISO 5356, mais elles font ou feront l'objet de Normes internationales particulières sur des appareils médicaux
spécifiques et leurs accessoires.
NOTE Les exigences relatives aux raccords coniques à vis pouvant supporter un certain poids sont spécifiées dans
l'ISO 5356-2.

4.1 Exigences générales
Les dimensions des raccords coniques en métal, y compris ceux en matériaux composites dont les surfaces
d'ajustement sont métalliques, doivent être conformes aux Figures 1 et 2 et au Tableau 1.
NOTE Voir l'Annexe E pour les dimensions des calibres mâle et femelle des raccords.
4.2 Exigences supplémentaires pour raccords coniques mâles de diamètre 22 mm
4.2.1 Les raccords coniques mâles de diamètre 22 mm, à l'exception du raccord de masque, doivent
comporter une gorge telle que représentée à la Figure 2 a).
4.2.2 Les raccords coniques mâles de diamètre 22 mm auxquels un masque peut être adapté doivent
comporter un épaulement ou un profil similaire tel que représenté à la Figure 2 b).
4.2.3 Si une ou plusieurs rainures circulaires sont pratiquées sur la surface d'un raccord conique mâle de
diamètre 22 mm, la largeur totale de la ou des rainures sur la surface du cône ne doit pas excéder 8 mm.
Il convient que le rayon à l'entrée du raccord conique femelle et sur le bord d'attaque du raccord mâle ne soit
ni inférieur à 0,5 mm ni supérieur à 0,8 mm.

4.3 Exigences additionnelles pour raccords coniques de diamètre 8,5 mm
Le raccord conique mâle doit présenter un diamètre intérieur minimal de 6 mm, sur au moins 6 mm de
profondeur vers l'intérieur en partant de l'extrémité du raccord.
5 Raccords coniques en matériaux non métalliques
5.1 Exigences générales
Les raccords coniques en matériaux non métalliques doivent satisfaire aux exigences suivantes lorsqu'ils sont
soumis à un essai de type avec les calibres ayant les dimensions données à la Figure A.1 et dans le
Tableau A.1.
a) Les raccords coniques en matériaux non métalliques doivent satisfaire aux exigences dimensionnelles de
la Figure 1 et du Tableau 1, à l'exception des dimensions A et B et du rapport F qui peuvent différer des
valeurs indiquées.
