E57 - 3D Imaging Systems
The development of standards for 3D imaging systems, which include, but are not limited to, terrestrial laser scanners (such as LiDAR), optical range cameras (such as 3D range cameras), and structured light systems. The 3D imaging systems considered may include terrestrial (static or mobile), airborne, and aquatic (surface and underwater) systems. Thefocus is on standards for 3D imaging system specification and performance evaluation for applications that include, but are not limited to: Civil and construction (e.g., surveying, infrastructure construction, structure maintenance and monitoring, mining, etc.) Manufacturing in industries such as aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding (e.g., quality control, automated processes such as assembly) Documentation (e.g., historic preservation, forensics, BIM – Building Information Model) Terrestrial static and mobile mapping Aerial systems (e.g., mapping, reconnaissance, sense and avoid) Consumer electronics (e.g., facial authentication, product scanning, emojianimation) Automotive (e.g., autonomous vehicles, occupancy detection, driver monitoring) Robotics (e.g., collision avoidance, localization, and mapping) The work of this Committee will be coordinated with other ASTM Committees and outside organizations having mutual interest.
